Why won't water go into my washer?

If both cold and warm water are affected, it may be the inlet control valve located (in most cases) inside the washer and contains not only the valve but also is directly attached to the inlet hoses.

Where can i go to download an owners manual for that model#

Sears carries or will procure parts for nearly all Kenmore-branded appliances and has illustrated parts breakdowns for thousands of them. Go to the link below and enter your machine's model # to see if yours is one of those they cover: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/ If you find it, it will have a line-drawing illustration that can aid in determining how to access the different parts.

How do I remove the washer console?

Hello Gary, now 3 different type of ways to get into console first is 2 screws below console , second is behind console at the bottom edge of console 2 screws, or if there are no screws to be found then a very thin putty knife and at the lower front edge of console push putty knife in and you will compress a spring latch as you push in slightly pull up on the console then do the same to the other side.

REMOVE BACK FROM WASHER

You don't remove the back to work on it. You remove the front console. You slide a putty knife under each side and push two clips and the console lifts up. If you lift the lid and feel under the console you will feel them when you get the console up unhook the lid switch ii the middle and remove the big clips that holds the front of the washer on and pull it forward, When you pit it back together be sure to line up the slots on the bottom.

Ordor from washing machine

Peace,
Ngafm at your service,

If you run the washer once a week without clothes and use 1/4 cup of bleach with hot water it will more than likely stop the smell problem!
But after you do the be sure to do white clothes next so no bleach
stains a spot on an article of clothing as happened to me!

AND , leave the washer door open when not in use!
If the smell persists, you may want to call service to make sure all the water is being pumped out and there is no wet lint standing in the pump or drain system of the washer!
Some loaders may have this smell problem on occasion if water is left standing inside some the washer some where!

Washing machine will not drain/go into spin cycle

Check your lid switch. If the lid switch is not making proper contact, or is broken, the washer will fill, agitate (some model washers won't), then just stop when it gets to the spin cycle. If this is what you are experiencing, then this could be a quick and easy repair for you.

Try opening an closing the lid. If you don't hear a clicking noise when the lid closes, the lid switch may be bad or loose. It is mounted under the opening of the tub rim on the right-hand side and held in place with two screws. Make sure the lid strike ( a small plastic piece) is present on the lid as well. This closes the switch contacts when the lid closes. If the lid switch does not function, the washer will not complete a wash cycle.

If the determine the switch and/or lid strike is broken, searspartsdirect.com carries the parts need. Just type in the model number you provided and you will find the lid switch under the "Top and Cabinet" heading as item #11 (part #3949238). The Lid Strike is under the same heading as item #20 (part #350733).

If you need advice on how to replace the lid switch please post back and let me know.

If I'm off the mark here, please post back with comments and give me a little more elaboration on what your washer is doing or not doing.

PS You do not need to drain the tub to replace the switch. If you wish to drain it, however, and want to by-pass the lid switch, I can give you instructions on how to do this as well.

Kenmore 20952994

The first thing you want to do is to take off the water hoses on the back of the washer. Where they screw on there is a small screen that gets clogged from time to time. There is a screen on both the hot water and cold water hook ups. Take a old tooth brush and clean them both so that the water can get through the screen. If you are real careful you can take a small screwdriver and pry it out by putting the screwdriver on the side of the hole and pry it out. Then you can clean and rinse it to make sure that it is cleaned. If that is not the problem then your next step is to check the water valve to make sure water is getting there.

Remove casting from kenmore total system

I I'm assuming you are taking about the body of the washer when you say casting? First Remove The Two end clips by Either Pulling on the Back Of The Clips. Now you should see two screws, remove them, pull console slightly towards you then flip it back. You will see two clips going into two slots, use a flat tip screwdriver. Insert it in the first section and push back towards the rear .pay attention to the removal as how to re installation. Also removed lid switch plus. .now open the lid lifting slightly at the back at the same time pulling the body off . Hope that helps.
