Kenmore 80 dryer reset button

Sounds like your problem may be with the heating coil.
If you plan to try to repair the problem yourself, then the first thing you want to do is unplug the dryer from the electric.
Remove the back of the machine and try to locate the air tube going from the blower to the drum. Normally inside the air tube you will find the heating coil and the thermostats/thermistor.
Once you have located the heating coil, remove the two wires from it and check the coil with an ohm meter across the two terminals of the coil.
You should read continuity across the terminals, if not you will need to replace the coil as it is faulty.
Good Luck,
Hope this helps

Kenmore Electric Dryer Series 80 110.86980800 burning smell

If this is a new element, this is normal until it has been used a few cycles. Use it and watch it carefully for a while. If it continues have a competent person to take the rear panel off and check for burnt wires or lint inside the unit.

Dried some clothes the other night and when I went

More than likely, the motor centrifugal switch is stuck. You should be able to turn off the element with the timer control switch. If the timer switch is on and the dryer is not running, the element should be off, unless the motor contact is stuck closed. You will have to get to the motor and 'un stick' the contact. Its a bit tricky, you may need help. Kenmore dryer will not run!

It sounds like your heating element is grounded to the canister or the bracket. Unplug this dryer till this is resolved as you have 240 volts feeding to the case if this is the problem. You need to remove the outer panel to get to the heating element to check this. Let me know how this turns out and what you find.

No heat

Hello Friend, Your problem is very simple to fix. You need a thermal fuse and or heater element, both very simple and affordable to replace. Try replacing the thermal fuse first to see if that's the problem. To replace the thermal fuse just remove back cover of dryer and look down where the air blows out. Now, just to the left where all the wires are you will see a white plastic part with two wires plugged into it. This part is called a thermal fuse. Just remove these wires and replace the thermal fuse. If this don't solve your problem you will need to replace the heater element. To replace the heater element, with the back cover off of your dryer just look down and to the right of were the air blows out. You will see the electric heating unit with two fat red wires plugged into it. Unplug these wires and you will see on the sheetmetal housing two screws that hold it on, one on each side. On older elctric dryers there is only one screw that holds element in place, it is on the bottom center of element screwed in from behind. Remove screw(s) and remove old heater element. Now, lay the new element next to the old one and take notice that there is a heat sensor attached to the old element where one of the red wires unplugged from. Gently remove this sensor and install it onto the new element in the same location as the old one. If you have an older electric dryer, the old heater element doesn't have the heat sensor on it, just skip this step. Now, plug in your two red wires and re-install your heater element. Your dryer will run like new. Happy to help, Tim.

Can you hear the motor running? It could be a broken belt or something else if the motor is not running. Would need more info to go further.

Needs more than one cycle each load

Hi, Te first thing to look into is the 4" vent leading outside. Make sure it has no kinks and that it is cleaned all the way outside. Next thing to look into is the heating. Is this a gas or electric dryer?
Get me a model # please and I can look into this for you.

The dryer will not get hot.

could be a power issue..
be sure you are getting full 240v at the plug
otherwise it could be a blown element - check for circut at the element
or it could be a thermal cut-off switch that went bad
