I'm not sure if this is the correct thing to do, but it worked for mine. First, go to the RCA website and follow the instructions to update the firmware on your player. Second, disconnect the player from your computer when the install is complete. Then, turn your player on. Once the screen comes up that allows you to go through your folders and settings, turn it back off and re-connect it to your computer and upload your music. I tried to upload 3 GB of music at once and had to redo this process. So now I just upload a little music at a time.

Also, I found it is better to load your player with music through Windows Media Player than to use the software that comes with the player.

If you was trying to listen to it and charge it at the same time, then your mp3 will not work after that. The mp3 was designed for it to onyl charge. Its not a multitasking device.

first recharge your device well and after put it on
reset your device once, it will work

OK, first thing, you can stop it by powering it off. The try turning it back on. It's gonna say it again, but just wait a few minutes and it should be on a black screen with the menus like Music, and enjoy!

I had this problem. Redo the entire start up on the PC like its just new. Install it once more, then it should be working again.

Your mp3 player can play only MPEG-4 videos. Any other format must be converted to MPEG-4 format and then transferred to the player. There are lot of good software out there that can do it for free E-right super and virtual dub being the best of the lot

Then install the software on your comp. Run super and choose the video output container(output format). Mpeg-4 works for most mp3 players. The drag and drop the video file to be encoded into the list.Choose the sound format and quality(mp3 and 160 k-bits for best quality) and video quality(640x480 is the highest) You can also choose the aspect ratio . Click on encode. The encoded file will be placed in the output directory. Ex: If you installed it in c:\Program Files\Super
then you will find the encoded file in c:\Program Files\Super\output.

Sounds like your player is out of space, so to free up 20mb of space you need to delete around 10 mp3 songs to make the room. or one video or such.

get a new charger for it or keep tring or buy a new mp3 player

hook it up to the pc and open it up in windows explorer and find the music folder and delete some songs

get the latest firmware for the M4304 - I downloaded it today and some of the "glitchyness" has disappeared

are holding the menu/on/off button down for an extended period (5 seconds or more?)

try using windows media player to sync and rip songs to your mp3 player it should recognize it and work with it
