Unplug the mp3 from the USB
press and hold the menu button for 10 seconds
release then press and hold the play button
-- while holding the play button plug it back in. Wait until it says intializing, then release the play button and press start.

let it run, it may take a while but it is finding all the info (mp3 songs, pictures) you have put on the device.

plug it via usb to a computer & check if it turns on. if it does then check its batteries

Use a computer to delete the files in the player. The computer will recognize it like an external hard drive. Go into the device via "My Computer" and select the files you want deleted in the drive.

I had a similar problem with my Sansa MP3 Player... It wouldn't recognize the device until I had installed Windows Media Player 10 or higher... Once I upgraded, it started recognizing the MP3 Player.

Are you running Windows? And below Windows Media Player 10?
