Computer restarts logging in windows 7

There could be any number of problems causing a Reboot loop. But the obvious one is that your graphics card won't work with Windows 7. It is too old.

Since instslling 8400 gs graphics card click on

It sounds like your machine is suffering from what is known as a "Panic." Don't worry, it is no reason for you to panic. What seems to be happening is that when you select "Shut Down," Windows instructs the graphics card and the software that controls it (called a "driver") to shut itself down. In the event that the graphics card fails or the "drivers" that control it fail, Windows crashes and the only way it knows to deal with that is to restart the machine. It is coincidence that whatever is causing this crash is a result of the shutdown procedure.

Here are some steps you can take to fix it:
Update your graphics drivers: Windows XP
32bit: Windows Vista, Windows 7
64bit: Windows Vista, Windows 7
If you don't know 32bit or 64bit, you are probably using 32bit

If that doesn't fix it then it is likely a problem with the card itself.
  • Try removing and reinserting the card. Make sure that the connector is seated completely.
  • Make sure that there is little or no dust in the fan. Heat can cause many issued in computer components. Use a can of compressed air to clean it out.
  • If all else fails, try to return the graphics card to your retailer if it has been under 30-days and you have a receipt. You may also attempt to contact PNY and see if it is eligible for warranty replacement through them.
If you cannot get a replacement through your retailer or PNY, see if you have a friend or co-worker that can loan you a graphics card temporarily. We are going to confirm a hardware issue before I instruct you to commit to purchasing a new graphics card.
  • Remove your graphics card
  • Install the borrowed graphics card
  • Restart your computer and then replicate the cause for the problem (selecting "Shut Down")
  • If the symptom remains (it reboots instead of shutting down), then the graphics card hardware is not the problem.
  • If the symptom is resolved (the computer shuts down instead of restarting), then your graphics card is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Hello. I have a basic 2004-5 era COMPAQ SR1000V.

I want to ask a few question first....Are you trying to adjust color settings on the monitor itself instead of through the Nvidia control panel?

Did you go to the Nvidia support site and download the latest drivers for that card setup?

When you download the latest drivers, part of the download package is an updated Nvidia Control Panel that is accessable by right clicking on the desktop and scrolling down the drop down menu and choosing "Nvidia Control Panel". In this control panel is where all the different color, contrast, gamma etc. settings are made as well as letting the machine or the software make the choices.

Below is the link to the Nvidia support site. I will try to locate the latest drivers for your card and put that link below. Just copy and paste the link below to the address bar of your internet browser and hit enter and it will take you right to it.

If need more guidance, just send me a message.

When you click on the link below or copy and paste, click on the download button, then click that you agree to the terms. A save window will come up, in the left pane click on the desktop icon and then click on the save button. This will save the file directly to the desktop. Simply doubleclick on the installer file and the program and drivers will install.

I got the this pny geforce 8400 gs pci card but it sends nosignal

You need to install the driver that came with the card. If you don't have it you can download it from the site. Also (for experienced users), check your BIOS setting to see if it has an option to select between the integrated graphics card your other one.

I plugged my GeForce 8400

For that first refix RAM memory and geforce card into motherbord.
Then when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode.
Then go to start->control panel->display ->settings.
Change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and restart if you still not see any display then reset bios to defaults.
For that pull cmos cell from motherbord for 10 minutes so all settings defaults.
Then check.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Need a graphics card in Dell dimensions 5000 to play fall out 3

It's a common problem with people wanting to customize Dell Dimension PCs. They are a great basic PC but weren't designed to be completely tricked out. The layout for the power supply is a bit different in most of their cases and to upgrade the power supply you usually have to physically alter the case =\ There are afew video cards that have a lower draw, but I'm not sure if they are going to be that great of an upgrade.

Installation cd

go right to their website and download the appropriate driver/software and install it from your computer instead of the cd. incidentally, remove the cd from the drive and inspect the working side... the shiny side and see if it has any smudges or scratches. the cd player may not be able to read it.
it's not mentioned but is that a pc or mac and what operating system are you using ?
