1. Switch on the set you want to control. 2. Hold down the S key until the key that corresponds to the last mode you selected blinks 3 times and then remains lit. 3. Press the key that corresponds to the type of equipment you want to control: TV: television set, VCR/DVD: video recorder - DVD player. 4. Direct the remote control towards the set and try to switch it off by pressing the key B. 5. If the set you want to control switches off, press OK to memorise the subcode. 6. Should the set not switch off, press key B as many times as required (up to 200 times), until the set switches off. Between two key presses, leave enough time for the key corresponding to the selected mode enough time to light up again (about 1 second). Proceeding this way will enable you to see whether the set responds or not. 7. Immediately upon the switching-off of the set to be controlled, press OK to store the code.

Flashing red indicates internal shutdown due to fault protection.
Only a tech can diagnose the fault (and hopefully repair it).
Good luck with getting it done quickly. :)

I am just guessing but you may have an ant-copy signal embedded into program signal causing to when you are trying to look at a recording to another source. If that is the case then there is one way that would work. You need to connect inline with the video line out to the in of the other unit (yellow) and that would solve the problem. Go to xdimax.com and check out a dimax signal adaptor( can not recall what it goes by,description-wise) This is almost like trying to use a hdmi output and a audio/video connection at the same time. This also happened when doing the same with some video decks (vcr)
Corrupted firmware. An update is necessary. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
