Does your machine have type bars or a print wheel?

These items there is usually a little arm you slide, mine was on the left side near the keys.

It sounds as either the tab didn't knock off or the tab stop has been knocked out of place thus jamming the carriage. You can try gently pushing on the right hand side of the carriage towards the left next to the tab stop to see if it will know off. If it does, then it probably means you have a gummy carriage or the mainspring tension needs adjusted. Other than that you will probably need to have it serviced.

Not enough information, really. We don't know the model or just exactly what you mean by not typing even. If you mean the lines aren't straight, then it could mean the typeface are not set evenly (which is something you cannot correct), or it could mean the platen is not sitting in the ratchet detent upon return and then slide into place while typing (check by hand that the platen in fully set in the detent by gently trying to move it clockwise or counterclockwise). Also make sure the paper release lever is not pulled. Hope this gives you a start anyway.

Check the breaker, otherwise it may be a faulty unit.

Some are under the typewriter carrige either left or right side , locks the carraige in place for shipping, also some are down along the side of the keyboard....

If the spools are 2" in diameter have a 1/8" hole in the center with 4 or 5 smsller holes around it this is a pretty standard fabric ribbon we have them in stock if it is different sem\nd the spools to us and we will wind a new ribbon on them. DickyO 216-269-3918
