Voyage 200 won't turn on

I've fixed my Voyage 200!! I fixed it using the 3rd solution listed below. I've placed them all in there in case the one I used din't work. The funny thing is the solutions listed weren't even for the Voyage 200. I mistakenly tried the wrong one, but it worked!! I've also posted some soultions listed for the Voyage 200 just incase the others don't work and the website I found these solutions can be found here. Good Luck!!

Website:
http://epsstore.ti.com/OA_HTML/csksxvm.jsp?nSetId=85103&nUsePub=NO&jttst0=6_23871,23871,-1,0,&jtfm0=&etfm1=&jfn=ZG1C0B48595DC76138EFAD7BAC9C1E63B698A69C9FCFEA6C84DEE9934631AC138649F2CD10EBEEF5C5E390C0B8C5F215C2F3

List of solutions that worked for me:

  1. Try a new set of batteries (including the backup battery).
  2. Adjust the contrast by pressing and releasing the [2nd] key followed by pressing and releasing the up arrow; repeat as necessary. To adjust or lighten the display, use the down arrow.
  3. Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the CLEAR key. While holding CLEAR, reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. The calculator should display the message "RAM Cleared". Release the CLEAR key and then press it one more time to remove the message. (worked for me!! Never actually said "Ram Cleared" just had a long box across the screen that filled up and POOF it was back!!)
  4. Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the DEL key. While holding DEL, reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. The calculator should display "Waiting...Please install calculator software now". Follow the instructions for the TI-83 family or TI-84 Plus family to reinstall the calculator operating system.
  5. Remove all of the batteries including the round lithium battery for 5 minutes. After the 5 minute period, reinsert all of the batteries and turn the calculator on. Adjust the contrast if necessary.
Voyage Solutions:

For the TI-89 Family, TI-92 Family, and Voyage™ 200:
  1. Try a new set of batteries (including the backup battery).
  2. Adjust the contrast by pressing and releasing the Diamond Key key followed by pressing and releasing the [+] key; repeat as necessary. To adjust or lighten the display, use the [-] key.
  3. Users of the TI-89 Titanium or Voyage 200 should see the following case before performing the following reset procedure to prevent the loss of valuable Apps.
On the TI-92 family or Voyage 200, hold the [2nd] key and the [hand] key, then press and release the [on] key. On the TI-89 family, press and hold the [2nd] key, left arrow, and right arrow; then press and release the [on] key. This should reinitialize the operating system, in which you should see a progress bar filling on the screen.
  4. Remove one of the AAA or AA batteries. Press and hold the [APPS] key, and while holding the [APPS] key, replace the battery and turn the unit on. TI-89, 92 Plus, or Voyage 200 users should see "Press I to install code...", and should press the [9] key. The calculator should then say, "Waiting to receive...". TI-89 Titanium users should see "Waiting to receive..." or "Waiting to received OS...". You will need to restore the calculator's operating system.

Blank vertical lines are appearing on the screen.

Hi, and sorry for my english !
Maybe the LCD driver voltage is wrong or noisy. I had the same problem: some vertical lines (not constant), pulsing contrast after powerup, pixel crosstalk, sometimes no screen

Solution: Try to replace the LCD power negative voltage buffer capacitor.
In my hardware version it is in the middle of the two T6B07 column driver IC (U3&U4) on the right side. Colored black, electrolytic type and the Value is : 10uF/25V. Chage it to around the same type.
There is enought space, so you can use a small sized non smd type capacitor. Be care of the polarity.

I hope it will help... ;)

Greetings from Hungary!

Voyage 200 black dots

I suspect that the screen is damaged. The liquid crystal is leaking. It could be old age or some violent shock. It may be time to replace it with a TINspire CX CAS, a Casio Class Pad 400 or the latest HP Prime

Argument checking!

The calculator does have several error message concerning the argument. For the Request( command the syntax is Request(Message, VarName) What you type is stored as a string. It is only after you try to convert it to a value that the calculator looks at its content. Here is an example where the variable VarName is x Request ("Variable x", x) I enter a complex number, manipulate it mildly with no apparent problem. However when I try to convert it to a numerical expression, and store it in the variable x, y, theta, I get a message Error non-real result. 8c34d722-dbfe-4986-87f4-909da5e8317e.png

I tried to use log(3,6) but it apppears a message

To many arguments meaning that the expression or equation contains an excessive number of arguments and cannot be evaluated. By the way it is easy to resolving your problem to find logarithm of the number 3 for the base 6: type log(3,6) and then enter. See captured image 2_27_2012_10_58_16_pm.jpg

The error message is important. It tells the would-be helper where to start.Anyways, did you try to check if the file(s) you are trying to transfer have a size smaller than the RAM left?.Did you make sure that the Computer (TI connect) fully recognizes the calculator?.I use Windows 7 (64 bits) and TI connect works perfectly.
