whenever i press sin, cos, or tan, put in a number, and press enter, a wrong answer always comes up. when i do it another calculator, the correct answer comes up. how can i fix this problem? i know there is a way to do this.
here are the steps in changing it from radian to degrees
1. turn on your TI-83 plus
2. press the MODE button near the top of your calculator
3.go down to options and move the highlight from radian to degree, press enter and clear
you're good to go

Whenever the screen is full and a line with calculation result comes up at the bottom of the screen, the screen all of a sudden shows things in a weird way and can't be read. By press "2nd+mode"(=quit), it gets back to normal. but this pattern repeats forever. Every time screen is full, and a new line comes up at the botton of the screen, the weird display problem repeats. Does anybody can help me?
Warning the following tip will erase apps and programs from calculator!
The following will run the self-test mode
Press mode then press alpha then press s then press enter
If you want to get out of the self test press the on button in case you want to attempt to save/transfer apps, programs, variables etc.
The calculator will start to test itself it'll countdown and display numbers on the screen. It can get better sometimes other times a replacement of both the cr1616/cr1620 lithium battery and the 4 AAAA batteries work. Also ensure that you've attempted to clear out all the memory and reset the calculator. To delete all variables, tables, graphs, etc: Press 2nd button then press MEM then press 2 then press 1.
To reset the calculator press 2nd button then press MEM then press 7 then press the left arrow then press 1 then press 2.

when I type anything into Y= the error message INVALID DIM comes up. For example, if i type in Y=3X+5 the Error message comes up. What do I do to fix this?
this happened to me as well. i looked it up and heres what i found:
http://www.prenhall.com/divisions/esm/app/graphing/ti83/faq/faq.html
basically you have a stat plot on so to turn it off, press 2nd and then the Y= button to get to "Stat Plot"
one of them is turned on so press enter and select OFF. this should fix the problem!

I need to know how to find the antilog on a TI[-83 Plus calculator to solve pH problems in chemistry.
I reccently had the same problem, but I have a Ti-84 Plus, and I am disgusted by how poorly this matter is covered by Texas Intruments. Esp. since the solution is rather simple.
The antilog key is [2nd] [log] or the 10^x. On your screen it should apear as 10^( and then you just input the value that you want to find the antilog of.
When used to solve pH problems remember to input the pH value as a negative number, since pH= -log[H+] then [H+]= antilog(-pH).
Hope that helped))))) ^^

Hi, I am trying to enter a cubed root for a graph, can you help me? I am not sure which key I should use to enter the cube for the root.
thanks!
Kevin
You can enter any root by typing the number, then hitting MATH and 5, which brings up the root symbol with the x in front of it: x√. So the fifth-root would be 5 -> MATH -> 5 and then whatever number you want to get the fifth-root for: 5x√10 for example. As someone else had mentioned, you can also raise it to a rational power: 3^(1/3) which would be the same as the cubed root of 3, but you could also type: 3 -> MATH -> 5 -> 3 and get the same answer, but looking like this in your calculator: 3x√3. The option for 4 actually is a predefined cubed-root, and the one for option 5 there is the root symbol that can be used with any number before it to get any root you want. There are no parenthesis as you get when using the predefined square-root and cubed-root functions, though, so you may want to type them in yourself if entering a long string of operations in the calculator at one time to make sure the calculator doesn't include numbers under the root that you don't want it to. But I guess it depends on preference in terms of what method you choose between the rational exponents or the root symbol (and most would go with whichever seems easiest and quickest to enter), but you asked specifically how to get the cubed-root on the TI-83 Plus, so there's my best attempt at answering your question.

How do you enter a negative exponent in to your calculator? I am trying to solve 15ml * 1 * 10(-3)
----------
1
and I can get my calculator to work.
Uh yes it will allow you to enter a negative exponent.... press the numbers you want then hit EXP button, then hit the +/- button and then the exponent. 60 % of the time, it works...... everytime.

When I turn on my TI-84 Plus Silver Edition calculator all I see is 1 and a blinking rectangluar cursor. No buttons seem to be doing anything. I have tried holding 2nd & +(mem) and holding the clear button while taking a battery out and putting it back in. I have also remove the memory battery. All of this with no luck at all. Nothing changes. I wish I could find a reset button that some people are talking about on here. But i have had no luck. Please help me. Thank you!
The first part of the post is inserted for completeness (and in case you need to readjust the scree. You can just skim through it.
Part A or B will reset the memory. Please read the whole post before attempting the procedures described here.
The first diagnostics you should perform are:
Here are some more procedures to perform

This
step requires the reinstallation of the system. So
to use it you must download the TIConnect 1.6 software from
education.ti.com. You must have the TI USB SilverLink or the TI Black
serial cable ready. You must be connected to the Internet.
If the message "Error! Press any key to
turn unit off. Then turn unit back on."
appears on the graphing calculator, quickly, remove one battery from the
calculator and reinstall it while the transfer is taking place.
You
have several ways to connect the calculator

where is the percent sign on this calculator
Sorry to disappoint you, but there is no such button or command on the TI8x family of calculators.
To convert from decimal ratio to percent value, move the decimal mark two places to the right.
To convert from percent to decimal value, move decimal mark two places to the left.

I get ERR:DOMAIN every time I enter an inverse trig function
Is your Ti83 plus in degree mode. You can change to radians by pressing the MODE key, and sliding down 2 more positions, and press the ENTER key. Because you got this error your principle value for x and y should be examined. Generally you really should be in radian mode when working with arcsin (aka. sin^-1), and arccos. You probably weren't using arctan because, you would have never gotten this error message due to the fact it goes on forever. And this way your answers for y= arcsin(x), or arccos(x) will be on the x axis, and domains at 0, pi/2, and pi.
You can work in degree mode but, if the number you place in the brackets of your arc sin or arc cos function is larger than 1 or smaller than -1 you will get a ERR:DOMAIN. Using the arctan or (aka. inverse tan) function in the degree mode can be used for computing endless waves, or as an angles that are usually in brackets of cosine or sine. Example: cos(arctan(Beta). This functions that y to never be greater than 1 or, less than 0. Example: sin(arctan(angle). This functions that y to never be less than -1 or, greater than 1.
I hope this answers your question to why you got this error and, helps you to decide on what the correct mode setting should be.
