Elna 2007 Mechanical Sewing Machine Questions & Answers
Elna 700
If your machine did not come with a little screw driver, you will need to purchase a r flat tip screw driver. Usually, you can find small screw drivers in an eye glass kits too. Take your needle, your foot, bobbin, etc. all moving parts off and set aside. Then use your screw driver to remove the bottom plate. Sometimes it could be sitting right there you might can turn your machine upside down and you should here where it's at without having to disassemble the whole bobbing casing. I hope this was helpful.

Threads jamming the bobbin case on elna sewing machine
Probably unevenly wound on the bobbin. Or tension needing adjusting, be careful to note where tension spring started before adjusting and do in very small increments.
Perhaps the spring has some fluff stuck on it and thread cannot slide through easily. Take out bobbin and clean

Feeder not moving
knotted up thread under the material indicates that the needle thread tension is incorrect ( needs tightening)
once you have that correct the material, will feed normally
use scrap when adjusting and the correct tension is when the top and bottom threads meet at the join ( middle -center )of the materials being sewn

Elna 2007 service instructions
These machines are mechanical and electrical computerized wonders. Unless you are a trained certified Technician, I don't suggest you try yo make repairs yourself. There are also many special tools and bit tips that may be required to remove the case...
Please, take it to a proper sewing machine repair shop with experienced technicians.
Cheers,
Kelly

Elna SU buttonhole- I can't remember the order to
sure, put on the buttonhole foot after
putting a button into it and using the screw knob to set the length you want.
Turn stitch length knob and stitch width
knobs to zero, (always set them to zero first to avoid wear on the stitch
selection mechanisim) then turn the left stitch selector knob to the blue
button hole symbol. Now turn middle knob stitch width, to the blue
buttonhole symbol. Now turn right knob stitch length to blue 1, sew down
the first side of your buttonhole until foot slide in the buttonhole foot
reaches end stop. raise needle and turn stitch length to blue 2, and sew
three bar tacks across buttonhole. Again, raise needle and then turn stitch
length to blue 3 and sew back down otherside of buttonhole until you reach the
end stop. Needle up, turn length know to blue 4 and sew three bartacks to
end. there is a last blue symbol dot on stitch length knob, this will sew
a stitch in place to tie off the ends. Raise pressure foot, remove your
work and draw top threads to underside with a needle, and tie off or use a dot
of fray stop. Done! if you don't have a manual you could email me and
I'll send you a copy of mine, tallygirl98 at yahoo dot com.

L have an Elna 1010 that has never been plugged in. Do I need to oil it before I use it? Is it ready to go after all these years?
check in the manual and see if it's self oiling or not,, some machine parts are soaked in oil from the factory & don't needto be oiled other machines have to be oiled,,if the manual doesn'tsay then contact elna customer service and ask them.I won't promise the machine will work or won't work if it's been sitting for years ,sometimes the grease can become sticky and hard. you'll be able to tell as soon as you start sewing, make sure you read the manual completely, that way you know what the machinewill do and what it won't do.always use the proper needle for the fabricand the proper foot if you go over a seam and the machine seems to struggle, take yourfoot off the foot pedal and use the handwheel to move the needlemanually over the seam, that way you don't bend a needle and causethe machine to jump time.also make sure to have a comfortable chair and good lighting anda good seam ripper just in case of a mistake.if you get frustrated while sewing, get up and walk around, that can help clear your mind, I've had to do that plenty of times and I've been sewing for 30 years. if you don't have a manual send me a comment and I'll try to find you one.there are several websites that have tutorials and other things for a quilter,,happy sewing
