Where do I oil my elna 2007

12_20_2011_1_22_01_am.jpgThis image shows that you need to oil the needle bar bearings and the rotary hook area. Also, always brush clean the rotary hook area after each use as keeping lint ouf of moving metal parts will prolong the life of any sewing machine and let the oil do its job. Also, use good quality clear sewing machine oil, just a drop in the points indicated.

How do you position the needle/ with which lever

Your model doesn't have a specific needle position adjustment. But you could try this - set it to the shell stitch or lingerie stitch on the stitch selector but leave the stitch width setting on zero, this may move the needle to the left most position with any luck.Other possibility is to put it in a step of the buttonhole sequence, but again leave stitch width on zero and see if this moves the needle bar to the right or left for you.

Can a genic foot pedal be used on an Elna Super?

Take a look at the side plate on your Elna and look for a two digit code, this is the model number. I'm assuming that you are in the USA on 110 Voltage. If so visit this website,http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/elna-sewing-machine-parts-model-list.aspx and choose your model. They sell replacement foot pedals, just check the profile of the plug that goes into your machine. The other option is contact the Elna guru, www.whitesewingcenter.com, he stocks a wide range of swiss Elna parts and may have the original foot control second hand.If you are on 240 voltage then you'll need to source it from a country that has the same voltage like UK, Australia or NZ.Lastly, you may wish to join the Yahoo group called "ELna Heirlooms" this user group of Elna owners is really helpful and shares lots of their love and knowledge for these beautifully made Swiss machines. Many of them have even earlier models than yours such as the Green Grasshopper, the first Elna machine.

Something is "clicking" while sewing machine is

Firstly eliminate the needle, put in a new sharp one. A blunt, bent or burred needle will cause clicking, popping or squeaking sounds. If you can still hear a clicking noise, then it is possible that the needle is touching the hook when down in the needle plate, and this would indicate that timing is out slightly. If you take off the needle plate and bobbin cover, foot and remove thread, then sew very slowly watching the needle and hook, you may be able to see/hear the point of contact.I've never adjusted timing on my machines, always left it to a technician. But there is some general images on timing repairs at http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Repair/Sewing%20Machine%20Hook%20Timing.htm if you are technically minded.

Elna 683 overlocker spare parts

I can see a needle plate http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/needle-plate-janome-788601007.aspxfrom sewingpartsonline.com, but it is marked as being for Elna 664. They don't have your model listed on their website. You could email them and ask if its compatible with your model or just look at the part and see if it looks the same to you?Other option is to contact Elna head Office in your country and ask them for price and availability; often this is best course of action as any sewing machine dealer will probably need to order in the part anyway.Visit www.elna.com, then go to your country, then "Contact Us" page to find their contact details.Hope this helps you get the overlocker going again.

Looking for an instruction manual for a 30 year

Hi Mary, check out the machine info plate, it is usually near the power inlet on the side below the flywheel. Hopefully if it is legible there will be a 2 digit number which is the Elna model. There is also the very early model called "1" or Grasshopper, this is a bright green beauty with a knee control. And a model after that with a six digit model code. If you are in the USA, you may want to contact the White Sewing Center, www.whitesewingcenter.com, he is the guru for all things early Swiss Elna including stocks of very old spares and manuals. My other suggestion is that you join the Yahoo newsgroup called Elna Heirlooms, this is a fantastic group of vintage Elna owners who share lots of information and are very knowledgeable. Just go to www.yahoo.com, join up, then go to Groups and search for "Elna Heirlooms". The moderator will need to approve you as a member initially, then you can peruse messages and check out the files, this is such a great source of information on these beautifully engineered machines.

How do I turn the selection dial to zigzag on my

I've got a Supermatic manual but I think maybe you mean the earlier model perhaps. On the supermatic you set the stitch width to 2 and stitch lenth to 2+ for a zig zag. In this image, the stitch width selector is marked "3" and the stitch length selector is marked "4".11_7_2011_6_01_11_am.jpgI've got a feeling that on the earlier model you may need to use a zig zag (single) disc in the Elnagraph to get the needle swing function. As you probably don't have a manual, you may want to join the Yahoo group called Elna Heirlooms as the members there share info on these vintage machines, and some manuals are there.Go to www.yahoo.com, sign up, then go to "Groups" and search for "elna Heirlooms". You will need to ask the moderator to join the group but once accepted, you'll find lots of helpful information, check out "Files" for shared documents.Hope this is of help to you.

Can you supply a zig-zag needle plate for Elna

This site doesn't sell parts - it just helps with information.Firstly, you need to post what model Elna as Tavarao Switzerland made several compuerised models, the 5000,7000, 9000, and the current Elna range are mostly computerised models now.To find the part you need, identify your model number by looking on the plate near the power inlet on the side of the machine. You could call a local Elna dealership, search Yellow Pages or online. Or the Elna head office in your country is often a great place to start. go to www.elna.com and then enter your country, then go to that website. Then find the Contact Us page to see their phone number and or email address. Often best to go to the source first off rather than be told that parts arent available when they may well still be able to be purchased.

How do I change the needles in the Elna 624 serger

Turn the flywheel towards you until the needle is at its highest point, then unplug the machine and turn the thumb screw on the needle bar that holds the needle in place. Turn anticlockwise to undo. Remove needle, and place a new one into the housing, flat shank to the back, and holding it all the way up, tighten up the thumb screw.

Need new foot control for Elna 6000

Have you tried Elna themselves firstly? Start with www.elna.com, choose your country to go to the local website, then go to "Contact Us" page and either email or ring the office in your country. Or you can puchase this foot control from www.sewingpartsonline.com,it looks like it is a seperate item to the power supply and plugs into the machine so whether you are in a country with 110V or 240V power shouldn't matter. Here is the linkhttp://www.sewingpartsonline.com/foot-control-and-cord-elna-480012-20.aspx

How do I thread my elna super sewing machine

Hi Marsha, this is pretty straight forward on these beaut Swiss made machines. Have you managed to wind a bobbin firstly? You need to disenage the clutch by holding the outside of the flywheel and turning the inner coupling knob towards you. Bring up the bobbin winder spindle into a vertical position. Place spool of thread onto one of the spool pins at the rear of the machine, then take the thread from your spool across to the thread guide on the left of the head of the machine, to the inside of the bobbin pull the tail from inside the bobbin up through a hole on top. Place the bobbin on the spindle and TURN IT SLIGHLY UNTIL IT CAN BE PRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN. While holding the protuding end of the thread wind a few turns of thread on the bobbin by pressing the knee control lever until the core of the bobbin is covered securing your starting point. Stop and trim the loose end of thread up against the bobbin, then restart winding until it stops automatically when full, while keeping light tension onto your thread spool at the back (use the curved handle of your scissors into the top of the spoool) so it maintains even tension on the thread as it comes off. Watch the bobbin and give the thread a nudge with your finger if it starts to fill too much in the middle, you want a nice even wind top middle and bottom. When bobbin is fully wound, remove it and swing the bobbin winder spindle to the side. Then tighten up clutch again by holding flywheel and turning inner coupling wheel away from you until it is firm.Open the bobbin cover flap, drop the bobbin in with the holes on top. Hold the thread tail and move it clockwise around the bobbin case until it goes into the little groove - press down on the thread while holding the bobbin still with a finger, you will hear the thread click into the tension spring. Try again if this doesn't happen, you must get it into the tension. You can test by lifting the thread vertically, it will come out again if not in the spring.10_24_2011_5_27_54_am.jpgNow, top thread. Turn the flywheel toward you until thread take up lever is in its highest position and raise the pressure foot. Place the thread spool on a spool pin so that the thread unwinds itself from the side nearest the machine. Pas the thread from below throu the thread guide then throu one of the two openings of the upper thread tension, thread from left to right, through the hole of the thread take up lever, then pas it from behind through the two thread guides at the lower front of the head. Then thread the needle from front to back. Use the top thread to draw up the bobbin thread by holding the top thread and turning the flywheel towards you through one sequence so the hook catches the upper thread, then pull the top thread to draw up the bobbin thread to the top. Close the bobbin cov er plate, draw both threads to the back of the sewing platform and you're ready to sew.You need to oil this vintage machine and there should be marked red points inside the head cover and on the side of the bobbin case denoting where.I would suggest that you join the Yahoo group called Elna Heirlooms; you'll find some useful information there and very helpful members who maintain their Elnas like your model.

The timing is out on my Elna Lotus SP sewing

Take it in for the technician to retime, these are a lovely compact machine although now over 30 years old. But beautifully made and engineered, with all metal parts inside so it should be serviced internally, cleaned and lubed on a regular basis. I'd suggest an annual service is beneficial to all mechanical machines to keep them running in tip top condition.

I have an Elna Lotus sewing machine. The needle

Most frequently the needle is just in backwards or threaded from wrong side, or using the wrong needle- check it over.... The presser foot must be released to press on fabric else the tension adjuster will be set to zero tension and could cause issue. Expect simple stuff else timing was knocked out of adjustment (from striking something, etc)Take two adjustments and call me in the morning... for real, get back to me if it isnt anything basic I will try to describe timing procedure
