The tension on the belt is probably too tight. This would keep the motor from turning the machine or it would turn it with a lot of resistance. Loosen the belt tension.

There might be a mechanical problem with your sewing machine to oil to be leaking and it needs to be repaired and the part that stops the oil from spilling out needs to have something sealing it then too to stop oil from leaking out.

There are a few things you can try - 1. Extend the bobbin thread longer outside and push it away from you. 2. When you make the Stiching pressure lever down then see whether it sits properly or is lose and creating gap. 3. Clean the bobbin seat. Check for its free movement.

If the solenoid has failed the fuse may not be affected. A solenoid is a big switch so they can fail without blowing the fuse. You may need to replace the solenoid.

To be sure it is top thread, suggest you try a thread of a different color other than the bobbin.

Assuming its top thread, you need to increase top thread tension.

Other causes; Uneven feed of top thread can cause nesting of top thread. The machine uses a horizontal spool for top thread. Be sure you use a spool cap that is as big or larger than the spool. Pay particular attention to threading instructions on which direction the thread drops from the spool. If backwards, flip spool.

Turn it to either extreme and then see if the feed dogs hit the plate when you hand turn the hand wheel towards you. Sometimes the feed dogs or plate have been replaced and they have set the stich length so that the feed dogs won't hit the ends of the plate.

If straight stich slide plate is in position only straight stitches are available.
