Generally speaking; You should have two setting bars on your machine, one for the stitch size and one for cotton tension (might be close to needle part, above)...you will see it has numbers you can set it to the level you want. I hope you find this useful.

It should set the width automatically when buttonhole is selected. Set the length to fine stitch.

There is a button with two "prongs" or wings. Rotate the prongs clockwise about a quarter turn, to face the square mark (Q in the diagram) then press it down. It will stay down.
