Simplicity 4059. do you need the tabs on armholes? How do side sew together, instructions don't say. Sandi

The tabs (usually referred to as notches in the instructions) on the sleeve armhole need to match up with the tabs on the bodice armhole. Make sure the wide tab matches with the wide tab and the narrow tab matches with the narrow tab otherwise you will end up with a sleeve facing the wrong way (toward the back instead of the front). There are also marks (beginning & ending) on the pattern of the sleeve armhole that show where to ease (or gather) the sleeve top into the armhole. sewing in sleeves Google Search setting in sleeves Google Search

Simplicity 8033 does not say this is a "rag" quilt, but internet searches say rag quilt. Does this mean the seams are exposed to the front? I know Simplicity can do better than this.

It appears to be a rag quilt: Simplicity Pattern 8033 Rag Quilts and Matching Doll Rag Quilts The raw edges are on the outside so the fabric frays and gets fuzzy when laundered. With a little ingenuity, it can probably be stitched with the seams inside so the seams are finished.

Is there a way to lower the feed dogs on a simplicity fashion pro model 640 ?

If you have the owner's manual, it will have instructions. Unfortunately, not able to locate a manual for download on the internet (all the web sites are questionnable--Russia, etc.)The feed dogs will either drop or your machine came with a cover plate that fits over the feed dogs.================Addendum:If there is not a lever somewhere to drop the feed dogs, then your machine probably has a separate cover plate among the accessories. It fits on "top" of the needle plate and actually covers the feed dogs so they do not contact the fabric. Do NOT remove the feed dogs!!! You will create BIG issues doing that.Look here:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ORmH9cc2Fk_QKd0OAWTnlU6n_xpjalGE3WzQ-Xcmz0c/editIn the middle of page 15, it shows installing the feed dog cover on the machine.....

My simplicity fashion pro sewing machine is not picking up bottom stitches. It won't sew at all, please help.

Install a brand new needle. If that doesn't help, most likely the machine has been knocked out of time--the needle and hook do not sync. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

Just bought a simplicity model 2507. I cleaned and oiled it and then began sewing. It wouldn't begn moving the needle unless I turned the wheel slightly to get it started. Is this normal??? The whe

A clacking noise is not normal. That you have to turn the handwheel to get it going suggests the clutch may need cleaning/oiling, or even replacement. The stiffness also suggests the need for cleaning/oiling. Machines are not meant to sit idle for long periods of time and age turns some lubricants into resins or varnish that can be very sticky, if not rock hard. I'd start by removing the handwheel. Then have a good look at the interior. Likely, there will be hardened spots or lumps of grease and gunk gumming things up in there. Carefully clean all that off. A solvent can really help - paint thinner or laquer thinner should work. Put the machine on a bed of papers to catch the drips. If the gears are metal, a small wire brush can help a lot to take off hardened material. Or a small stiff bristle brush, or even a small paint brush to apply solvent. Once it's all very clean, dry carefully with lint-free cloths and let it sit out overnight so any remaining solvent will evaporate. Then, use a high-quality sewing machine gear grease on all the gears and and a high-quality oil made specifically for sewing machines on all the spots where moving parts touch, but sparingly. Too much is as bad as too little. Chances are good the machine needs a general cleaning and oiling and ideally, I'd take off all the covers I could find and clean and oil everything. It's really not hard to do, usually just takes one or two basic screwdrivers to get the screws out, and not too long to clean it all up. Take pictures as you take it apart, so you'll know how it goes back together, unless you're very confident about being able to do that without a problem. Make sure you put all the screws and any other small parts you have to take off into a well-secured dish or tray, so they can't fall and vanish into floor cracks or carpeting. Replacements might be hard to come by. Also be sure to thoroughly clean the bobbin case and all around the area where it sits in the machine. This is a prime collector spot for broken thread & lint, which will cause a ton of problems and is usually easy enough to remove. Good luck!

Need sewing instruction sheet for simplicity pattern 9384

Unfortunately, unless you can find a duplicate of the pattern that has the instructions, you are probably out of luck. You may be able to find a similar pattern and attempt to use those instructions. The way that pattern pieces go together are very similar.
