There is a patch for Windows 7 at www.future-support.com. That site is an amazing resource for the Futuras!!

That is called the upgrade or compatibility software, and I would recommend that you search on eBay under Singer CE-200.

You probably answered your question. The software is not compatible with the computer.

Worst case scenario, replace the bobbin winder for $10 on www.sewingpartsonline.com. Not a bad price, or just buy a bobbin winder from JoAnn's or Amazon. I have one and love it.

"PC" symbols on the machine panel if it is not connected to PC and switched on is a normal behaviour.
As for communication failure try to remember whether something on your pc has been changed: windows upgrade, machine got connected to another usb port etc. If any of such changes have been made try to reinstall Futura software. Otherwise launch troubleshooting utility and send its report to futura-support.

First, try a brand new needle. If it was damaged by the previous activity, then it could be causing both problems.

There may be a small "DRIVER" needed for the computer to "see" the sewing machine (*make sure machine is turned on!) when the cable is hooked up. (*could be a bad cable try another they are $2 at fry's) This sometimes requires more computer work to make sure the usb cable is connecting the embroidery machine to the computer correctly. This driver may be located on your Singer Futura Disk? this is not your program to run the singer machine but the one to connect the two so they can communicate embroidery designs and such. I had the same problem, go head with machine off and embroidery unit off also turn wheel toward you. If it still won't go try winding a bobbin that is what happened with mine it seemed to undo the stiffness. You can also take the cap off the wheel and make sure there is no thread wound around it.
Good luck if this does not work there are other tips but it would take all night to email all the steps.

Now right click on the program file (.exe) file in the software folder (prob on c:, folder called Futura **). Mine is different than yours...so end of file will be different, so I put ** instead). After you open the file folder...right click on the program file & choose properties; choose Compatibility; Check the run as box (mine is set to winXP 2); and check the run as administrator box. Try opening the program...if it opens...you can then do the update install.

In your case, I believe that the needle height is out of adjustment, and it's an easy fix. Insert a #14 needle, and make sure that it is ALL the way up in the clamp. You can determine that by looking at the shaft right above the clamp; the needle end should be resting against what looks like a grey bar. Next, take 10 pennies and stack them on the needle plate. Your machine's needle should JUST be resting under the needle; it should be a tight fit. If it's off just a "smudge," leave it alone. If it isn't, take the cover off the needle area, and locate two Allen screws on the needle shaft. The one that adjusts needle height is the bottom one, and you should only loosen by about 1/2 turn -- not take it off. Adjust to the 10 penny standard, then make sure that the eye is exactly to the font, then tighten.

I found a solution that seemed to work for my setup (Vista-Futura 200): Go to the Futura support site www.futura-support.com . Choose "Service Updates" from the left-hand Menu. Choose "Quantum® FUTURA™ (CE-200) Owners running Windows XP Service Pack 2 operating system WITH one or more of the Options (AutoPunch, CrossStitch, PhotoStitch, and HyperFont) installed". Look for the bullet-point list in the explanations. It says there: "If you own the AutoPunch Option and you could not successfully install it, download the Service Update by clicking here." Select the highlighted link, download the patch and install it. Worked fine for me, I hope it helps you, too.

Make sure you have the latest software version. Current version you may check in About dialog under Help submenu and in the same submenu you wil find a function Live Update.
Also make sure you switch on the sewing machine either with the large hoop connected or without hoop. If sewing machine was switched on with the small hoop attached, it will provide this error message about wrong hoop.
