470952 looks more like a serial number than a model number for a Singer branded sewing machine. However, the known Singer serial numbers that do not have a letter prefix start at 611,000. See http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/serial-numbers/singer-sewing-machine-serial-number-database.html , if you have additional characters in the number. These early sewing machines do not have a model number. You can find some Singer manuals here: http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/manuals/singer-sewing-machine-manuals.html . Most are available here: https://www.singer.com/support .

If there is a three-digit prefix to the model number on the sewing machine label, then you have a Kenmore branded sewing machine. Some of these manuals might be online. However, without the prefix, I can't find the correct manual. You can try here: https://www.searspartsdirect.com/ . Manuals for Kenmore sewing machines made before 1990 are probably not online.

I hope this helps.

  • Sam Guffey Nov 04, 2019If you have the manual, there are, usually, diagrams that indicate where. Just be sure to follow manual's suggestions; too much oil can be bad for your machine. While many parts need oil, usually one drop is all it takes. There are many parts in a machine where oil can cause the machine to malfunction.

You will need to track the wire connections back to the two hot wires. Hook them up to the hot wires in any order and it should work, since it is controlled by the light switch. Hope this helps. Sincerely, Amender (2019-NOV-01).

You asked . . . Q: Can a Singer 626 sewing Machine be removed from its cabinet? A: Yes, any machine can be removed from its cabinet. '' After all, the machine was once installed into the cabinet. Getting any machine out of its cabinet is usually easy. Some machines cannot stand alone and operate without some kind of base stand. The Singer 626 is not all that old, so it would probable work on a tabletop. Generally, to remove most machines from cabinets: (1) Un-plug and remove the power cord and controller wires. Sometimes wire clamps need to be removed too. (2) Un-latch any machine base clamps or release mechanisms. (3) Lifting the front, of the machine, tipping it back onto its hinges. (4) With a narrow flat Screw Driver, loosen both set screws located just below each of the two hinges, about four turn, or until it no longer holds the hinge tight to the cabinet. (5) With both hinge set screws loose, lift the machine off the hinges and set it on a covered work surface. (6) Immediately turn the two set screws back into the machine base, so they will not get lost (they may be difficult to replace if lost). (7) Re-Installation is the reverse of Un-Installation. It is easier if you hold both hinges up wit a rubber band, so they don't keep falling down as you try to align the hinge-pins with the mounting holes in the machine base. Good Luck. Hope this helps.
Sincerely, Amender (2019-Nov-01).

Use an applique stitch, which is a zigzag stitch set on a very short stitch length

If you have two thread spool pins you can use a double needle. But make sure your needle plate is not a single hole, you'll need a needle plate with a wide hole enough to accomodate two needles.
