Singer 9410 Bobbin
I had the same problem and after looking on here and finding no answer I went back to my machine and found out what the problem was...ok, where the bobbin case sets in,the metal plate beside it needs to be fitted right close to the bobbin case, so loosen the screws(just two of them) that are in the plate(DO NOT REMOVE JUST LOOSEN) and slide the metal plate over some just enough to fit snug...NOT TOO TIGHT... if its seems to sew too tight loosen it a bit It worked for me, GOOD LUCK
When i turn the balance wheel or use the foot controller, the needle doesn't raise or lower
Is this a machine where you have to tightnen the clutch in the middle of the handwheel? Or is this one where the clutch disengages when you switch the bobbin winder on?
If it's of the second type, try turning the bobbin winder on again, and then off, crisply. Otherwise my best guess, barring other information, is that the lubricants have gone gummy or evaporated. Do you hear a motor hum?
Sewing machine bobbin casing is loose and can't get it back in!
In the lower right hand corner of the bobbin case area, there is a
small finger-like spring structure. Gently lift it and push it to the
right. Take the bobbin case in hand and inspect it. It is a round piece
of metal with a groove running down the edge of it. Now look at the
hook, or the round piece of metal that is in the bobbin case area. It
has a slight shelf-like structure. Place the bobbin case groove into
the shelf-like structure in the hook so as to make it sit flush. With
your finger, take the front of the bobbin case and push it to its left
so that it is as far counterclockwise as possible and replace the
spring.
Hope this helps.
Broken feeder plate
It would be called a Needle plate or Throat plate. Good luck finding them, I've never seen anything in the domestic machines... and industrial machines are just as difficult to find. Check with whomever you purchased it from. Perhaps they can direct you to a parts place.
