This sounds to me as the Oscillating weight is getting loose and touching the movement. There could be a loose screw as well. That's why your watch is stopping (not enough power to fully auto-wind the spring). There is nothing you can do, I'm afraid, but to show watch to the watchmaker for proper inspection. The longer you'll wear it as it is - the more damage will be done.

It rather depends what you mean by "very often".
An automatic watch will run for 2-3 days before stoping if it is not used.
These watches thrive on being used and are best used every day.
It could be that your watch needs cleaning (I had one that was like that when I bought it and I had it cleaned and it ran for years after that).

It has jammed in the spline somehow. This is common though... You will need to take your watch to a Tag Heuer Watch repairer to remedy this particular problem. There is NO Home Fix, as it were. With a watch as good as this it deserves the best treatment.
