The phone is 5 yrs old but the receiver has crashed to the floor often. Now, the outbound sound apparently fades badly at times. Any suggestions?

you may be able to find a replacement handset on Ebay, they sell many such things...it probably is not worth trying to repair. Electronic devices have, and have had for many past years, a stipulation in the electronics area. Anyway, try Ebay, keep looking, you may find a replacement. finite lifespan, this is the reason for the introduction of the 'durable' www.ebay.com
