Fill will not stop

you may have a problem with your pressure switch. or sometimes they call it the water level switch.

try to use it in the small level and see if it would stop filling around medium or large quantities of water.

if it would stop filling , then replace the water level sensor.

Take screws out the top and open the controlthemobilian_2872.jpg
On the right is the water control. Remove that hose from tub to switch and blow out any sediment that might be in the base of the tub then retry. If it continues ya might need to replace that water level switch If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/dan_73bbd84fe1d95b61

How do I take the top off?

To get the top off, you have to pull the front panel off first. To remove the front panel, you need a thin screwdriver (or old butter knife). There are two latches in the crack between the front panel and the top (they are even with the edges of the lid). When you pop those, the front panel comes off. Now the top screws are visible and by removing them, the top will come off. The lid switch needs to be taken loose before the top is removed. There is a good video on youtube.com that shows how to take a GE washer apart. The link to the video is : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjHzxKW4Qw8 . The video shows the disassembly better than I can explain it.
Hope this helps

I have a WBB4500E1WW washer

http://applianceassistant.com/repair/sounds/ddWasher_noises.php pa 1schmidt, without hearing the sound it is hard to say. Here (above) is a wonderful link for strange sounds made by washers and the parts to check for them. Wonderful site as well.
I would bet that something is stuck in the pump and needs to be removed, but it could be several other things.
Hope you find this link helpful; if you need any further help, dont hesitate to contact me.
thanks,

I have a GE washer

Hello, This unit does have a belt. Since you hear the motor running but its not spinning i would check the belt the part # is WH1X2026. to check it there are two clips in the top front corners in the gap between the top and front panel you cant see them you slide a putty knife in the gap and pop the clips in and slide the front panel down then you will have access to the belt. It drains because it has a electric pump not controlled by the belt.. Hope this helps..Please dont forget to rate me :)

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You need to check your water pump. Check the belt. Make sure it is not clogged. Make sure it is working. The pump is what controls water into the washer. If your washer doesn't drain or spin, you may read and learn what parts may cause this. First, you will want to check your water pump. You need to make sure it is working. Make sure you check the belt on the pump. Make sure it is not broken or loose. Also, make sure your pulley is not stuck in place. Sometimes, they will stick or barely turn at all. If this is the case, you will need to replace it. If the pump, pulley, and belt are working, make sure your motor is working. You should be able to hear it if it is. If it isn't, check your lid switch. The lid switch can cause the motor to not work. It may need adjusted. If not, go ahead and change it. A bad lid switch may cause the washer to not work at all. Now, if your pump is pumping and the washer still won't spin, you will want to check your belt and clutch. Once again, the belt may be broke or loose. Check to make sure your clutch is not worn also. This may be a case of a bad lid switch again as well. You could have a bad drive motor. This is what controls spinning, draining, and agitation. You could have a broken motor coupler. Over time, they will go bad and need replaced. It is possible that your transmission is slipping or damaged. And lastly, you could have a bad basket drive ir spin bearing. This is what allows the inner tub to move. If this is the case, you will probably hear loud sounds or loud banging. I want to thank you for reading and I hope this helps you

Ge # wbb4500e1ww stops during

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Sorry but I do not know your particular machine BUT I would suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters. The motor is unable to drain all of the water in the allotted time.
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and held in by a round cover/knob.

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!

It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!

Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!

My washing machine will not fill up with water and

sounds like your water pump is shot.I believe your model has the small motor driven pump, which is separate from the transmission.older design was coupled to the transmission. You will have to pull the cabinet off to see the pump.Hope this helps
