My gas dryer only heats occasionaly - sometimes

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

Problem with "model selection connection" message on touch screen

GE Dryer - Profile Harmony
DPTGT750GC1WW and perhaps others.

If a screen comes up with "model selection connection". It could be the motherboard that has problems. Most likely not the touch screen.

Possible solution - Before calling for repair.

- First unplug the dryer for two minutes.
- Hand spin the dryer drum one or two turns while unplugged. ( in case motor was over heated)
- Make sure the dryer door is fully closed.
- Plug in (after the two minutes).
- Cross fingers
- Start.

- Let dryer cool between loads when possible.
If this fails you may need to call for repairs. I think GE has one year repair plan unless you bought extended plan. If you paid with credit card, see if it was a paid with a credit card that extends warranty another year. Perhaps look into this "card choice" for your next high end purchase.
Only if this helped...Donations_M.D.,box774,Fairfax,CA - Another try if this fails - If you dare - Unplug, you can remove about three screws holding top panel on (on rear) and tilt top forward. Check to see that all connectors are seating well on motherboard. (White box in center). Hope see works for you!

No heat blower motor no working

Okay, I think we need to back up a bit here. I need to know, first, if the dryer ignites. This is a GAS dryer, correct? I need to know if the igniter is glowing, and if you can hear the gas start flowing when you have ignition. If not, this could be a simple igniter or gas coil problem. If there is ignition and the drum is turning, do you have air flow coming out of the dryer vent exhaust? If there is air flow, you cannot possibly have a blower wheel problem. We need to rule out some possibilities before we start disassembling the dryer. I'm a bit miffed as to why someone would tell you that the motor was the problem. Since I was not there, I need to know as many symptoms that you can provide, so I can give you with a correct assessment.

No heat blower motor no working

The only sure way is to connect a good motor and see if it runs. In the last year I have replaced a few of those motors and no control boards. All the tests are electrical and the normal failure for that motor is mechanical.

I need to use my GE Dryer now today, but dryer door switch doesn't work.

To do that today, you would need to do the following for older dryers. Turn off the power by pulling the plug From the back remove the console. Remove the top Undo the two screws at the kick strip Carefully remove the front remembering there are wires. Short the wires together and tape them up. Put it all back together. For modern dryers. Some are surface mount and just pull out. Order the part, DON'T leave it like that! ..

Ge dryer older model belt won't get tight , idler arm not enough tension on belt, can't figure out how idler arm works . No tension

The reason for this will be that you have mis-routed the belt or that the spring on the idler arm is weak or has broken / dropped off. The idler pulley puts tension on the back edge of the belt. What made the loud noise will be the key to this. My bet is that you lost the spring or an idler arm mounting bolt.

My dryer is squeaky. it's a GE model number

It depends on what is making the squeaking noise. Could be drum bearing, drum slides, tensioner pulley, pr even the leveling legs sometimes squeak.

I have a GE 572D676G002-5KH26GJ115S. I was using it as a sander. I dropped the motor from my work table (about 3 feet). Now it will not start

When it hit the floor you have probably knocked something loose inside the motor itself. You will need to check it spins freely by hand and check the carbon brushes for the armature. You may also need to strip the motor down to check all the wiring connections inside the motor.
