Cant play DVD's on PC

1st thing to check is you have a DVD drive installed in your computer, if you look at the drive it self it should have DVD or CD embossed on the front of the drive, if you only see CD or similar you can't play DVD's, if it does have DVD or similar you may need to install DVD software, have a look on filehippo.com for some software.

RCINT failure.string table ID not found.'42' at

  • Something you have running in the background is failing. Googling around shows one person who had installed Style XP and that was causing the problem. Other links show people having the problem but no solution. So if you haven't installed Style XP, you'll need to do some systematic troubleshooting.

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: If the problem is new, what changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't?

The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?

Be sure the computer is clean:
    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

If the computer is completely virus/malware-free, manage your startup to find the culprit.

    Start>Run>msconfig [enter]

This brings up the System Configuration Utility. Look on the Startup tab and find the probable culprit. Uncheck the box next to its name, Apply and OK out. You don't need to restart immediately, but the next time you do you'll get a dialog saying you've used the Utility. Just tick the box that says in effect, "don't bother me about this again".

Date & Time Problem

First, you need to have administrative rights to change date and time.
Check whether you are part of admin group or not. To check click on start and click on run, type "control userpasswords2" and hit enter. It will display user information, make sure you are part of administrators group. If not, try logging from administrator and run the same command
"control userpasswords2" and click on your user name and click on properties, go to to group membership tab and select others and then select administrators. This will make you part of administrators group. If this doesnt solves you problem try the CMOS Settings.

Try changing the date & time from CMOS settings. To go to CMOS Setup, restart the system and there will be options highlited to go to setup.. ( eg press F10 Steup ) and play around only date and time setup. Rest if not known to you, do not change anything.

Windows xp is not instaling in my system

Hi!

In order to have a multi-boot system (i.e. 2 or more operating systems installed, so you can choose the one you want to use each time), you must have Windows XP installed FIRST, and then install Windows 7.

If it's ONLY Windows XP that you need, repartition the hard drive during the first setup step of Windows XP installation process.

Good luck,
Pelu.
