Hp 8500 printer/fax machine will no longer receive a fax in color but can send in color. it used to work fine both ways. What can I do to fix the problem?

If the person who is sending the fax cant send in color, then you would not be able to receive the fax in color. Just make sure you choice the option to received the fax in color. Ask someone to send you a fax in color and just received in color.

All in one HP

Try this, If it is not on your network, plug it in and/or set up wireless. Find your printers IP Address, Then go to that in your web browser. When the page loads up, Click on FAX then basic fax settings, turn it on that way. That MAY work, if its the windows software doing it then this is a work-a-round. You can also click on Tools, then Event log <on the same site> and see if any errors occured why it shut that option off. < im assuming the Automatic Answer is pertaining to fax :)>

Hp 8500 A910 printer will not connect wirelessly to a desktop computer running windows xp

You may need to set up the e-print options. I would visit the HP website that explains how to do this to get all of the details. That website can be found here: http://h71036.www7.hp.com/hho/us/en/ep/articles/hp-eprint-mail-print-demo.html?jumpid=ex_r602_go/eprintbannerYou will need to make sure the printer is connected to the same wired or wireless network that the Windows XP machine is part of. You will also need to make sure that the Windows XP machine doesn't have a firewall or other similiar software that may be blocking the ability to communicate with the printer. One thing that you can try to verify if connectivity between your XP machine and the Printer is vaild - is to open an IE page on your XP machine, and type in the IP address of the printer. This should take you to the printer administration page. If the page doesn't open - then it is likely that the XP machine and the Printer are not seeing each other properly to begin with.

Where are the printheads located

lift the top of the device (not the scanner lid but the topcover) and you will see the print heads in left.thats are the printing heads, not the ink cartridges, so i hope you are looking for them. the ink cartridges have to be under a cover on the front left.look at this link, there are video instructions as wellhttp://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01623635&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3752462

My printer will not print color copies. No matter

You most likely have blocked ink jet nozzels.
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

Recently shifted house and need

Just plug the power plug of the printer into the power plug and the data cable to the usb port of the computer (back side). If you have a cd with the printer insert the cd and install the printer drivers, or else download the printer driver fron internet by searching with the printer model number, (example: Cannon MP145 )

Printer says out of paper

I went through the settings under the wrench emblem-went to "preferences" (7) and "set scroll speed" (3) and set the scroll to slow. Since I have done this, I have not had the annoyance of the "out of paper" message & having to push the OK button for it to start agan.

Fatal error installtion

Hi,

Download the latest installer software for your printer on the link below and save it to the Desktop.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL31041/mp-77031-3/OJP8500vA909_Full_13.exe

Check that you have the latest version of Adobe Flash installed on your PC.

Next download and install Revo Uninstaller from the link below.

http://www.revouninstaller.com/download-freeware-version.php

Disconnect your printer from your PC.

Run revo and use it to uninstall your printer software. Right click on the icon of the program you wish to remove and select Uninstall. During the process you may be asked to delete registry entries, just select all and then click delete. Do the same for any left over files and folders. Once the uninstall has completed, reboot the PC.

Temporarily disable any security software ( Antivirus and Antispyware )

Now try running the software installer from your Desktop by right clicking the installer and selecting 'Run as Administrator'. Do not connect the printer to the PC until the software asks. If everything install Ok, remember to enable your security software.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,

Printer states there is a paper jam but when

This error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.

Paper jam

Hi,
If you are experiencing paper jam problem with your printer, please follow these steps: 1. Remove any loose sheets of paper from the input tray and the output tray. 2. Press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn off the product. 3. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product. 4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. 5. Turn the product around so that you can access the rear side. 6. Push in the button on either side of the two-sided printing accessory (duplexer), and then remove the duplexer. 7. Gently remove any jammed paper or bits of torn paper from the rollers inside the product. Use both hands to pull any whole sheets of paper to avoid tearing them. 8. If you do not see jammed paper in the rear access area, push the buttons on the latch on the rear of the duplexer, and then lower the cover. 9. Remove any jammed paper from inside the duplexer. 10. Close the duplexer cover. 11. Gently push the duplexer into the product until it snaps firmly into place. Do not press the buttons on the end of the accessory while you reattach it. 12. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product. 13. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet. 14. Press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn on the product.

It seems to cleaning the printer cartridges every

Hi,

The best way to avoid the printer from doing this is to clean the printhead/cartridges from Printer program.

Press the Setup Button
Use Arrow key till you find TOOLS - Press OK
Use Arrow Key till you find Clean Cartridges/Printhead - Press OK
Let it go thru the process once.

After it has done cleaning, follow the above steps again till you find Align Printer - Press OK

This process will stop the printer from going thru the cleaning cartridges process over and over

If the issue persist, the best way is to do a Full Reset on the printer and Align the printer again.
Doing a Reset will Erase Details like :
1. Fax log
2. Fax Settings / Speed dial no.s
3. Wireless Network Settings
4. any other setting on the printer

Reset steps are :
Disconnect the power cord from rear of the printer ( the printer should have power when you do this)
While holding # and 6 key, connect the power cord to printer and release the keys after 3-4 seconds.
Follow the steps to Re-setup the printer till it aligns

Regards,
Shawn

I replaced the 940 ink cartridge and the printer

Hi,

Seems like you will have to do a bit of cleaning on Cartridges and Printheads

Remove the Cartridges out and Clean the golden ( electrical ) contacts with a lint free cloth
Remove the Printheads ( unhook the latch/hook ) and Clean the contacts with lint free cloth

Put the Printhead firmly and install the cartridges. the printer will go through alignment process and should print alignment sheet.

Let me know if this fixes the issue.
