Audio on Dell Webcam Central And voice record isn't working
I
have a Dell 1545 with Dell web cam central & I've had this issue.
The problem is that Dell web cam central installs it's own microphone
settings onto your laptop called something like Dell web cam Live!. This
isn't the built in microphone in my laptop & maybe not yours
either. You have to change the settings for your computer system &
Dell web cam central. Go to start> control panel> sound>
recording .. on mine there is an option for Microphone "High Definition
Audio Device" ... that is the built in mic. You want that for your
default & apply it. Also .. as a side note .. I disabled the web cam central Live! microphone completely from this window. Then open Dell web cam central & go to the
"Record Video's" option. In the middle of this is an orange button with a
video camera icon. Next to this on the same button is a little arrow
pointing down .. click that. Under microphone .. choose Microphone "High
Definition Audio Device" just like the sound option in control panel.
I've done this & it's completely fixed. I can record videos with
sound & use my built in mic in voice/video chat.

How do I install XP on my Inspiron 1545 that is running Vista? I have the discs
Hello,Go into BIOS and make sure you boot from disk cd/dvd romif you have another computer go to Dell and download all of the drivers for your computer(inspiron 1545) and put them on a USB flash drive (e.g - ethernet, sound, bios update, etc.)IF you do not want to save any data boot from your XP cd.The cd will load and it will ask you some questions "install xp" F8 agree. Then it will check for current operating systems. If you have a large hard drive larger than 100 gigs I would partition the hard drive into two or more smaller sections. For XP I would Recommend 40-60 gigs (40960 = 40 gigs - 1024*40). This way--if you have a problem with the OS in the future you can load the OS again without loosing your data as long as you put your data on the other partition (changing the paths on my computer, my pictures, my music, etc.). Then, once the OS is loaded you need to update the OS, get a free antivirus (Microsoft security essentials - put on flash drive), and install any programs you may have or want. Takes some time but this is how to do it if you do not have a clone. Also, check out CCleaner this fixes registry problems, clears cache and more to help your computer run faster. If you have any more question let me know.I hope this helps!!!

How can i update dell dock?
A docking station is an extension or addition of ports for a laptop computer. Once the portable computer is docked, you can access the docking station's ports, such as PS/2 or USB 2.0 ports, through your computer. Some docking stations have monitors that you can connect your computer to, placing your video on an external screen so you can turn off your computer's monitor and conserve some of your computer's energy. All Dell docking stations will have the same general troubleshooting steps. Plug your laptop's power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If there is no power going to your laptop from the docking station but it works when the power adapter is plugged into the wall, the docking station is bad and needs to be replaced. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If power goes on but your computer doesn't recognizes accessories such as a USB mouse--plugged into the docking station, try a different port on the station. If it works in a different port, the previous USB port is burned out. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If power is going through the docking station but no accessories are being recognized, you might have a corrupted docking profile. Undock the computer and dock it again once it has fully started up to reset the docking profile. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If you have an external monitor and it is not working, completely close the lid on the laptop so the image will move to the external monitor. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If power is going through the docking station but no accessories are being recognized and resetting the docking profile fails, update all drivers through Dell's support website and then re-dock the computer. Some of the software that runs the hardware may have become corrupted. Hope this helps b>
My laptop shuts down in 5-10 mins.
Instructions 1 Purchase a new fan for the Sony Vaio model you have by checking the owner's manual of your computer or consult the Sony website for the correct part number. 2 Remove the power cord from your computer and then remove the battery. Unlock the battery and slide it from the bottom of the laptop. Allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes after removing the battery. Turn the computer with the left side facing toward you and locate the only screw found on the left side and remove it. Remove the panel by sliding it toward you and set it aside. 4 Slide the panel covering the power buttons to the left and detach the ribbon cable connecting it to the motherboard and then remove the panel gently. 5 Remove the keyboard by unscrewing the small screw directly above the keyboard. Once the screw is removed, gently lift the keyboard and detach the small cord connecting it to the motherboard. Set the keyboard aside. 6 Remove the plate under the keyboard by unscrewing the three screws and lift the plate out. 7 Disconnect the cooler fan from the motherboard by pressing the connectors in and removing them from the sockets. Once the connections have been removed, lift the cooling fan up out of the computer. 8 Replace the old fan with the new one you purchased and attach the two connectors. Reinstall the metal plate back on top of the fan and attach the screws.

HARD DISK MAINTENANCE TO KEEP COMPUTER RUNNING EFFICIENTLY. Hard disk maintenance should be carried once a month to make your computer run efficiently. This removes redundant and temporary files, recovers disk space and speed up hard disk access. Disk Cleanup should be done first - Click My Computer - then right click on the C drive then click Properties, then click Disk Cleanup - let it examine the C drive then it will calculate the amount of disk space it will recover, tick all the boxes to recover the maximum disk space and then Click OK and then Yes to perform these actions. If you have a D drive then repeat these steps on this drive too. Next the C drive needs to be Defrag. This process converts fragmented files into continuous files and this speeds up disk access and makes the hard disk not work as hard. Click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Defragmenter - click to highlight the C drive and click Analyse - then click Defragment. When this is completed repeat these steps for the D Drive if you have a D drive. Disk Cleanup and Defrag can take a long time to complete, especially if these tasks have not been for a long time.
