Why does my clutch grind and rattle on my ext 580 with adjustable clutch

It is probably sick. Clutch noises are never a good thing. It might look like an explosion on the inside. Shrapnel and chunks all black and such. Check it out soon for best results.

My sleds have sat for about a year and a half. I went to start and one of them I cant pull the pull start more than a quarter of the way

Remove spark plug, spray a little WD40 into cylinder, pull cord a couple times to blow out cylinder.

Sled runs at half choke once choke is off it stalls

The carburetor needs to be rebuilt. It is sucking air from somewhere. That's why you have to choke it to cut off some air flow.

I have a 1991 snowmobile Polaris 650 triple with a rebuilt top and bottom motor was running great shut it off, the next day went to start it wouldn't start pulled the three plugs. They were wet. I wen

Hi Bryan: The only way that gas can get from the fule tank to the internals of the engine is through the carb. Depending on what slope you parked it on, the fuel tank must have been higher than the Carb, and, the float valve (or equivalent) in the carb is letting the gas flow through into the intake manifolds. At any given time, at least one intake valve would be open so the fuel would enter the cylinder and leak past the rings into the bottom end. Trying to start it in this super flooded condition would account for all plugs being wet. Attack the carb(s) and you should find the problem. Will hope for a fast fix and lots more snow for you.

How much compression do the cylinder have 96 Rmk 700

It looks like 100 to 135 or so, I'm not a Snowmobile engine expert. But if you Google it you'll find a lot of advise from the snowmobile forums. Her's one I found: http://www.snowmobilefanatics.com/forums/26-polaris/90690-when-re-build-top-end.html Make sure when you do a compression check that the readings are within 10 to 15% of one another! If more than that you'll need to start looking into an engine rebuild.

My Grand Touring Rotax 500 won't start. Plugs have spark but get soaked every time I try to start.

You have a build up of fuel in the crank case. turn the fuel off and crank the engine over til it starts. While running turn the fuel back on.Also make sure your choke cables arent out of adjustment.

The check engine light turn on at 5000 rpm or more but the snowmobile performence is not affected

Watch out, double check oil. If it's complaining about oil level or more likely pressure, it's early warning.

Why won't my 1998 Polaris indy 500 start? It is getting fuel and has spark.

Along with fuel and spark...you need enough spark and you need enough compression. Asssuming your rings aren't broken and you can feel good compression when you are turning it over, you can spray a little ether in the carburetor chamber. If there is enough spark and compression it will at least fire up momentarily. Sometimes the rings or cylinders get scratched up because they run incorrect gas/oil ratios for too long and then when they sit for a while the oxidation fills in those scratched surfaces. Starting with high fuel to oil ratios is easier to start ( gas burns easier with less oil in it) but the engine will wear faster with high ratios. But if the engine won't start under pure ether, then the spark is real weak or out of time, and/or the compression is shot. Good compression makes heat and concentrates the air and fuel together. If the compression even falls from 10:1 to 8:1, that is enough to cool the charge from about 150F down to about 90F or so and you won't get ignition

What coolant to use in a Polaris xlt sp 600 1996 sled.

I have no personal experience but if it has been completely drained I would suggest using the most environmentally friendly type you can find, possibly the propylene glycol rather than the highly poisonous ethylene glycol. Just my thoughts...
