more than likely you agitated the fuel and now whatever contaminants were in the bottom are mixed in, probably water.

A good mechanic can do anything, it may not be exact fit. You will need the electronic box from the 86 classic and possibly the wiring.

You pull the complete engine mount baseplate out flip the engine upside down and unscrew the bolts that attach baseplate to engine.

Clean fuel supply, change filter. Clean carbs... Rebuild fuel pump possibly. If this is all good and you haven't done any clutch work it may be time to repair primary and secondary.

It uses an engine stutter system and actually runs backwards when it's engaged. It won't go in if rpm's are too high. How high does it idle?

Could be a bad cdi box. Ive this problem with my xlt when I go for a ride, stop to eat and head back out to go home it won't start. I've usually had to choke it, and pull until it starts. My issue is carb settings. If you don't have spark I'd try replacing your cdi. If you know someone with the same sled try there's.

Problem has to be in the coil now. Even new parts can fail try switching plug wires first. You might get lucky and the wires were just crossed from the one you replaced.

I've owned many polaris snowmobiles and to me it sounds exactly as the current owner states. It probably needs the carbs thoroughly cleaned, taken out and apart. I would also get new plugs as well. I prefer ngk plugs for my sleds. If you've never done it there ate plenty of you tube videos on how to clean and adjust the carbs.

Bowl float is sticking open.
Turn the fuel on tap the carbbie bowl. With something ie end of a screw driver etc... your trying to get the float to unstick. Before you put it back together. ..ie putting the bottom on make sure the float goes up and down freely

Did the shop clean, set, and synchronize the carburetors? Did you check the compression on all cylinders?? (>120PSI on each).. What about the air filter/intake system,,, make sure its clean and clear.....

This is an uncommon problem. There does not appear to be a scree flip setting in the menu. You could try for a reset of the set but I suspect that would do nothing except require you to retune your channel settings. It is possible that the set was jarred or some vibration occurred that cause a loosening of the ribbon cable to the timing control (TCON) unit in the set. One could try resetting that ribbon cable.
