there should be a manufacturers plate attached to the hull of the boat with a number of passengers it can carry and the max hp motor allowed to be fitted talk with boat shops as they will know the approximate hp for each make of boat and length while it may be attractive to fit big hp motors to small boats , it in fact makes the boat less sea worthy and makes capsizing easier so get the advice right from the boat shops

Yamaha did not make the GP model until 97 and if the numbers you posted are correct you have a 94, that being said all yamahas up until 93 were either a 500 or a 650 so im guessing its not a superjet which is a standup so you may have a waverunner 3, Raider, Blaster, or a wave runner LX. What colors are on it? does it have twin carbs? there will also be a sticker on the engine cases noting engine size.

If your talking about the HIN plates on watercraft and vessels then the last 2 numbers will give you the year of manufacture.

yes you will get water in the fuel tank ! drain fuel tank and mop out by removing the fuel pump !

to replace it take to a press to get old one out and to replace or take to a prop shop !

Check fuel pump diaphragm or stuck needle and seat

are you getting power from the other end of the starter? if not then there you go.

Check battery leads for correct polarity

Flat battery,faulty starter solenoid,loose or dirty battery connections,seized starter,seized engine

Check for venting problems in the fuel tank. Is there a small screw on the filler cap that has to be unscrewed to let the air in when running

Hi, most likely cause and the easiest to check is exhaust leaking in the engine compartment. Run it without the seat fitted for the same time frame and if it fixes your problem you are looking for an exhaust leak. Regards Phil.

did you replace all diaphrams in carbs and fuel pump ? balanced the carbs ?

Hey Kenton Plett,Directed from another answer:You have a bad starter bendix. It is a one way clutch wit a gear on it that moves on the starter armature to engage the flywheel. It is sliding over and engaging the flywheel the way it is supposed to, except, under load it is slipping. Since it is bad you will need to replace it. If it comes off with the starter it should be easy. If it is inside the engine, you may have to pull the engine to take off the cover and replace it. Good Luck
