burner will not turn off

Hello, i have a GE Spectra radiant range. when i turned on the rear larger burner on the left of the oven the small burner also went on even though i did not turn the knob on for this burner. now the burner will not turn off. it stays on constantly, the only way to turn it off is too unplug the oven completely. i have turned the knob on and off and it still stays on even though the light that indicates the surface unit is on is not lighted.

I will need the complete model #. There should be a sticker near the bottom front behind the drawer. Can't use the # that is on the owners manual.

If it's the light that indicated the element is on, replace the switch. If it's the light that indicated the element is hot, replace the element.

Replacement of glass top

Check your warranty in the back of your use and care book. If the unit was manufactured prior to 1/1/06 it may have a five year part (not labor) warranty as long as you did not physically abuse it. The glass top comes as an assembled top (glass, the black seal, and the metal frame holding it)
Disconnect power. remove screws under the front edge of cook top. lift cook top and remove crossbars holding burners up against glass top. Unhook cook top / frame assemble. Install new top in reverse order.

Take the 2 screws out of the back wall of the oven (inside) holding the element on. Then pull the element out and it will expose the wires and terminals (2). Unplug the 2 wires and plug them on the new element and mount the element back in the oven and your fixed. (make sure to turn the power off to the oven before you start unpluging wires.

replacing baking element for GE Truetemp

I have a GE TrueTemp electric range (model J BPOWOB1WW) whose baking element has gone out (burned out and broke apart). I ordered the part today, thinking I could replace it myself, but taking a look at the connection, I'm not sure I can.
Will I be disconnecting the ends of the element from the wires while reaching inside the oven--that is, unscrewing the plate and pulling the element toward me to reach the connections; or taking off the plate on the back of the oven, disconnecting things from there, and pushing the ends of the new element through the insulated slot, and reconnecting the wires to the element from in back?
Either way, the way the element ends are connected to the wires puzzles me--no obvious, easy parts to pull apart or unclip and reconnect, no simple unplug and replug. But then I don't have the part yet and don't what the end of it looks like. Do I need to rewire?
I'm not a fix-it kind of guy, but I'm trying to improve myself.

Thanks,
John

I just had the same problem. Just remove the rear panel of the range and unplug the two leads. Now go to the two screws inside the oven and remove them. The heating element will now come out and you can insert the new element the same way. Replace the two screws inside the oven and then attatch the two leads in the rear. Replace the rear panel and you are set to go.

It sounds like you have a defective Oven control module. (TO8 Control) is the part that controls all oven functions including clean, clock, timed bake, ect. Item is easy to replace yourself.

steam is coming off of the back right burner when oven is on

I noticed that steam was coming off of the back right burner when the oven was on (appx 400, it had been on about 20 minutes). I wiped the water off of the top and new water condensated there and more steam... I shut the oven off. It's a GE Spectra Range

In order for the oven to work air must circulate. You may have noticed the door seal does not meet at the bottom. Air enters there and exits the chimney located in the console area. Hot air meets cooler surfaces equals condensation. Some foods have more moisture than others.
