My GE refrigerator is not maintaing cold temp in

Probabilities:
1. Main board, most likely
2. And/or evap. fan motor less likely.
3. Defrost heater, less likely
4. Evaporator thermister, unlikely, but possible
Try defrosting it for 24 hours (by unplugging) and see if it helps.

Why is my water not dispensing from the spigot? I

when you dispense the water have you noticed the compressor shuting down or anything else strange happening,i've found on some of my customers machines that the main computer board was bad causing this to happen, also the fans run fast then slow down or the condenser fan in the back doesn't run all the time,if you feel the strip in the middle where the doors close if that's hot then the condenser fan in the back isn't running correctly and the board will cause this.you can try this, open the freezer door, down near the floor you'll see the water line, disconnect it,have someone hold in the door lite switch and hit the dispenser if water comes out of there then you do have a frozen line, keep the line apart, unplug the machine and with a hair dryer heat up the door half way up the part of the door closest to the hindges and heat up the part where the ice comes out of the door but i've found that alot of the time i heat the door up around 2 feet from the floor and then down to the bottom of the door and when water comes out of the line you'll know you melted out the frozen ice in the line, g.e. has a heater part number WR49X10173 that you can install to help this problem or you can call g.e. and tell them what's happening and in some cases they will change out the door, when they blew in the foam into the door it didn't cover the water line and that's why they freeze up.if no water comes out then you have either a bad water valve or the board is bad,if you look at the board and it only has two relays on it then most likely it will be the board part number wr55x10942,even if the board isn't bad it will go on you if it's the first generation board so i would change the board first because you will be changing it soon enough, also you can go in the back of the fridge where the water valve is,have someone dispense the water and with a meter see if voltage is going to the valve,if it is then you have a bad water valve part number WR57X10032 but like i said check the board and if it omly has a couple of relays on it change that too,i looked up your machine and i think you missed a number,it looks like after the p there's another letter so i don't know ifyou have digital readings in your machine,if you do and they have been going out on you then it's deffinetly the board, let me know what you find and how you make out,if i can help you out more or you have any questions let me know, good luck and have a great christmas

Its not freezing anything and making noise like

defrost switch sensor inside the back panel could be faulty replace it its cheap and look for the compressor relay and and switch. these will be on the side of the compressor. access them by removing the bottom panel on the back of the fridge. test or just replace these can also prevent the compressor from cycling on to start cooling.

My GE side by side refrigerator isn't working

Check your air door at the top left rear of your refrigerator side. If no air is flowing try opening it by hand while you are there. Also check the freezer for a fan sound to be sure your fan isnt stuck or dead.

I have a GE side

Remove lower grill and disconnect the water line going through the freezer door hinge. Usually it is a push lock fitting, which requires you to push the ring2_bing.gif on the end of the fitting toward the center of the fitting while pulling (not hard) on the plastic tube. Now place a pan under the separated plastic hose and try the water dispenser. If water comes out, your problem is a frozen water line in the freezer door. A warmer freezer temp may help, or you can order and install a WR49X10173 water tube heater2_bing.gif. (the heater may take 24 hours to thaw the line, but I have used it successfully several times. Cost about $50) If no water comes out the separated tube when you try to dispense water, reconnect the tube at the hinge by pushing the plastic line back into the fitting. Now, at the back of the refrig., disconnect the water line going from the water valve to the fresh foods compartment. Try to dispense water. No water at valve outlet = bad valve. Water dispensed from valve now = frozen water filter or water line at back bottom of fresh foods compartment. (make sure you disconnect the right tube. If in doubt, disconnect them both, just get them back correctly so your icemaker continues to work) Send me additional comments if needed. Don't rate before you try all the steps.
