My GE Model GSL25XGWA SS
Hi davidrothe,
There are some things that you can check to address the issue with the icemaker that overflows:
1. Gears - The first thing you should check are the gears on the front of the icemaker. To access these gears; remove the front cover off the icemaker.Once the cover is off, inspect the gears and if any of the teeth are missing they are bad and needs replacing. Also check to see if the small gear has slid forward enough to miss the big gear. If so, put a small drop of lock tight on the shaft and push the gear back on.
2. Fill tube - The next thing you should do is look at the fill tube to see if it is clogged with ice. If it is clogged with ice, pull it out the back of the refrigerator and clean all the ice out with hot water. The water valve causes this problem so replace the water valve or it will happen again.
3. Sometimes water will enter the icemaker too fast causing the first cube-mold to overfill before the water gets a chance to run to the other cube-molds. To fix this problem remove the cube separator and run a bead of RTV (silicone) at the top of the first cube mold. Then reinstall the cube separator and the problem should be fixed. Note that if this is the problem it will only be a small leak; a few drop of water per cycle. If you are getting lots of water overflowing the water valve is bad and needs replacing.
The most common problem with noisy refrigerators is the fans. First, where is the noise coming from? If it's coming from the freezer then it's probably the evaporator fan motor. Take the evaporator cover (in back or bottom of freezer) off. Once it's off you should be able to see the fan and confirm that it's noisy. (Note that in some refrigerators the fan cuts off when you open the door so depress door switch for this test). If the fan is noisy replace it. If its not the fan and the noise is coming from the freezer, then it might be normal. At times there will be a groaning noise coming from the freezer. This is when the compressor has just cut off.
Hope it helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.
The refrigerator side is cold
If your fridge is cooling your fan is not circulating the air around. Have you noticed your fan running at all? Make sure the vent from freezer to fridge is not blocked, either by an overstocked fridge or freezer. Naturally if you adjust your freezer too high you will decrease the overall cooling of the fridge. Try your freezer at say mid level and your fridge at just above mid level. Has anyone made any adjustments lately? After adjustment, it can take 24 hours for fridge to level out. Also keep in mind taht as it gets cooler and, particularly if you have kids, if the doors are opened constantly, the fridge will have a harder time keeping up.

It sounds like the fan in the freezer is not working , to circulate air , and the coldness is just dropping . This will cause the icemaker to stop working first , then the top portion of the refrig next . As this coldness drops , the lower portion of the fridge ( crispers ) , will freeze . The main control board , causes the fan , not to run . Part Number WR55X10656 . The main control board , is located , behind the refrig , behind an 8 " X 10 " , small panel . There is usually a burnt resistor on the board , which is connected to the fan . Unfortunantly , the whole board will need to be replaced . It is easily replaceable . Doesn't take any special knowledge . All the plugs 6 or 7 , each fit the pin plug designed for it .
I have a GE refrigerator
you can jumper the board where the line cord enters the board,it will say comp/defrost/neutral in the center, jumper between the center terminal and the outer one that says defrost,if it still doesnt defrost you need to disconnect the defrost heater and check for continuity, then do the same with the defrost thermostat, but the thermostat needs to be below freezing to test it or it will show open(bad) the heater will show some resistance to be good
What should I sell it
GE GSL25JFPBS - brand new sold for around $1200, you might get $350 for it.
GE GSS25JASWW - brand new sold for around $900, you might get $250 for it.
In both cases the fridge is supposed to be in perfect condition - scratches, dents and smells drastically reduce the price.
I am able to access

My Fridge GE Mod# GSL25JFPA BS, does not dispense
g.e. has had problems with the freezer door.when the foam is blown into the door if the water line doesn't get covered the line freezes.you can call them and tell them your problme,i've seen them send out a new door for free.also g.e. has a heater kit made for this problem part number WR49X10173 and it's around 30 dollars
Where is the drain pan
why are you looking for the pan,you shouldn't have to do anything with it.the pan is at the bottom of the fridge behind the front kick plate and on some models there isn't a pan at all/the water drains to the bottom frame or floor of the fridge where the compressor is in the bottom back, the water collects there and the heat from the compressor and condenser coil evaporates the water.remove the bottom back panel, lok for the drain line or if it just defrosted you'll see the water sitting in the frame.what's happening that you're looking for the pan?
