How do i reset the locked oven door to unlock it?

I have had that problem once.I turned off the breaker to that oven over night and then in the morning the door opened as it should.I found a GE page that is below. It may help.

http://www.geappliances.com/search/fast/infobase/10000161.htm
Some models with oven Set and Temperature knobs must have those knobs set in the Clean position before the latch can be moved to the left. If your door won't unlock, try turning those knobs back to Clean, then slide the latch over.

F1 error keeps beeping loudly

F1
touch pad / ERC test
This simple test will help determine
whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is
defective when F1 error code is present.

Note: Some models
incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single assembly, in which case this
test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock).

Warning: If
you feel in any way uncomfortable performing this test or making this repair,
please contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

1. Disconnect
power to the range (unplug the range power cord or turn the power off to the
range at the circuit breaker). It is very important that the power to the range
has been disconnected, so please double check before continuing.
2. Gain
access inside the control panel.
3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called
keypad or membrane switch) ribbon from the ERC.
4. Make sure there are no
lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power is turned back
on. Assemble the control panel back the way it was.
5. Turn the power back
on.
6. Wait for at least one hour to see if the F1 code comes back (usually
accompanied by a beeping sound).
7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it
does not, replace the touch pad.

Bottom element is not heating

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

This indicates an open/shorted oven temperature sensor and to solve this problem the sensor needs replacement. If you wan to be sure before replacing the sensor then you can test it with a voltmeter for around 1100ohms....if it reads more then this then it needs replacement however, if the reading is around or less then 1100ohms then it is the control board that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

I started the self-cleaning process on my GE

Hi
You can start the self cleaning cycle again and then stop it after 15 minutes, then let the oven cool for sometime and check if the door opens again, if it wont work then press the CANCEL button for 20 seconds. If the issue returns then you have to take a screw driver and open the latch. After this the latch mechanism should be replaced as it is bad. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

How do you replace and

You will need to shut off the power and remove it from the wall. Remove screw holding sensor from inside oven. Then pull rear panels off to access rear of machine, be sure to tie a string to the old sensor wires so that when you pull them through you can tie the new wires to that string to make it easier to pull them back through. Plug new sensor wires in, put oven back together and re-install.

Please rate my solution if it was helpful.

Thanks, Repairman45.

My friend has a GE

Hi,

Thank you for contacting Fixya.com.

In electronic ovens the digital display use a sensor to monitor oven temperature. To solve temperature problems for these models, you may need to replace the sensor. Also you can calibrate the temperature using the key pad. Check the owner's manual regarding this. Ovens without a digital display often use a mechanical system for controlling temperature. On many of these units, you can remove the thermostat knob and adjust the knob itself to more accurately represent the actual setting of the thermostat.

When you remove the knob, there's a screw on the back of it with a small calibration plate, you can loosen the screw, adjust the plate, then tighten the screw again. If the knob isn't adjustable, and the oven temperature is off by more than 30 to 40 degrees, you need to replace the thermostat.

Please get back to us if you have any further query.
