The read on display is f2 and beeping

HI. This error code will occur when the control board senses an oven temperature above 915F-935F

Once this type of temperatures occur, this will generally weld the relay contacts on the main board. This will damage the board, and it will require you to have it replaced, asap. If these temperatures never reached the sated thresholds, i would advise to Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit. Check sensor, sensor harness and sensor harness connection at sensor and oven control. Replace the sensor if found to be defective. Check door lock switches for damage, as well.

In most cases, this will be a failed control board. To confirm, simply preform a resistance test on the sensor. The normal ohm readings should be 1100 ohms at room temperature..

I have a GE JKP27.

There is a calibration procedure you can do using the oven control panel to adjust the thermostat but the most adjustment you can make is no more then 50 degrees either way so if it is 100 degrees off then it is to far out to calibrate. There are a couple ways to run the calibration procedure depending on the model.

Press the bake and broil HI/LO pads at the same time for 3 seconds until the display shows SF. Press the bake pad then a two digit number will show on the display. Press the increase or decrease pads to adjust the temp in one degree increments. Once adjusted press the start pad and your done.

Or...

Press bake then select a temp of 550 then quickly press and hold the bake button for 5-15 seconds until "00" is displayed or the previous temp is displayed. Then press the up/down arrow to move it in 5 degree increments. Once selected press clear or off.

Using the calibration methods will allow you to adjust the temp closer to the true temp you are reading. Make sure you are using a reliable tempature gauge using a thermocouple(like a fluke meter) at the center rack and give at least 10 minute warm-up before taking the reading. Electric ovens produce a pretty even tempature but it can vary some when the electric coil come on and off. The cheap oven guages that you place in the oven are not very accurate and not dependable. I would verify the tempature is off with a thermocouple based temp guage before calling it bad. If the temp probe is testing good then I would think it is the control board also as you have stated. Let me know if you have any questions.

We have a double wall oven which is 16 years old.

I have the same issue. Only answer I found was the elements may be burned out. The bottom oven is separate (knobs).Go to GE site and see how to adjust the thermostat (behind a knob).

Display screen wont turn on

Do the oven work at all, if it does not you will need to turn the breaker off and back on, it may need to be reset, it will appear fine but it will indeed need to be reset.

GE JKP27 F2 error

The F2 Error code means the oven has detected an excess temperature condition. Most often this is due to a bad temperature sensor - the sensor costs about $75 from an online repair site.
How to remove and replace the temperature sensor. In most GE ovens, when you open the door, you'll see the rod-shaped temperature sensor sticking out of the back wall at the upper left. It's about six inches long and a bit more than 1/8" in diameter, held in place with two screws.

Turn off the circuit breaker (built-in ovens) or unplug the range before attempting the replacement.

The replacement sensor will come with instructions, but basically it's a matter of removing the sensor, pulling out the wires to where they are connected and disconnecting them. You may have to snip. The replacement sensor will come with high-temp wire nuts to hold the new connection. Polarity doesn't matter; it's a straight resistance thermocouple. Hook it up, be sure you poke the connections back far enough so that they're on the other side of the thermal insulation and not resting against the back of the oven.

If you continue getting the F2 error after replacing the sensor, then the problem is likely in the control module - this is the circuit board behind the keypad and clock.

You'll need to remove the decorative bezel to get behind the control panel. Remove screws and set off parts in order - it's not complicated. Once the bezel is off there are two more screws that hold the panel in place. Then you can lift the panel up about a half inch and pivot it forward toward you. You'll see a bunch of wires going to a circuit board.

On the panel you will notice some black plastic boxes that say "Potter & Brumfield" on them. These are relays. Check the relays - slide the black plastic cover straight up to expose the coil and the contacts. The coil, when energized, closes the contacts - look at all the relays. You can manually close the contacts with your finger (be gentle). If the contacts of one of them are stuck, they might be welded together. You can fix the problem by prying apart the welded contacts gently with a knife blade. Take some time to gently polish the relay contacts with a folded bit of fine grain sandpaper - this will get some more life out of them. Be gentle and careful - the relays aren't complicated but if you bend the contact or rip it out, you'll have to replace the controller, which will set you back a couple hundred dollars. If you unstick and burnish the relays, they will probably eventually weld together again as the rough spot will spark, but when you burnish them with sandpaper they should be good for some more life before they need to be replaced.

If the problem isn't the temp sensor or welded relay contacts then the problem is obviously somewhere else, but temp sensor and relay contacts will account for the lion's share of F2 errors.

Once again, be safe, be careful, be gentle. Ovens are not very complicated and they're tough, but always exercise care. Always disconnect electricity before messing with them.
good luck......,

GE double wall oven JKP27W.

HI. this was never a sensor issue. the original sensor was ok. this will be a control board issue. the integrity of the board is compromised. The circuit bed is damaged(Not allowing proper transfer of resistance signals). You will need to replace this damaged control board asap. this will correct the communication issues between the sensor and control board.

Bubbles on control panel overlay

If the overlay isn't a protective foil that easily peals off, the hair dryer would only serve to distort it, I don't believe it will cause it to shrink to fit. If it was applied with a 'self-stick' backing, you may be able to puncture the bubbles and press it back down with a hot rag.

HI, this is an issue that concerns either the key pad or the control board.

Determine if problem is with the Key Panel or Control by:
1. Pushing CLEAR/OFF pad.
2. Disconnecting Ribbon Cable from control and waiting at least 32 seconds to see if Code recurs

If code recurs, problem is in the control. Replace control.
