GE JGRP17 Gas Single Oven - Page 3 Questions & Answers
I have a GE Spectra XL44, model #JGBP40BEC4WH gas
Most likely, you're oven igniter is not getting hot enough to open the gas valve to ignite the burner. It glows like normal, but does not reach the temperature required to open the gas valve. Replace the igniter. Before you replace that, make sure that the small shutoff lever on the appliance regulator was not accidentally closed, which would turn off the gas to the oven, while still allowing gas to the stovetop. The silver lever should be sticking straight out or up. Douglas
Oven will not heat past 100 degrees.
Hello there:
It won't bake or even heat up correctly or
If your oven won't bake, check these:
Bake igniter
Other causes
Bake igniter
Usually
when an oven won't bake, it's because the bake igniter is weak or
burned out. The igniter is a small, round or rectangular device, that's
about 1 inch by 4 to 8 inches. It's near the burner itself.
The
burner is the tube-type device the gas flows through before it's
ignited. It has many small holes on the sides to let the gas, when
ignited, form a long, low flame. If the igniter is weak, if it glows red
but doesn't get hot enough, or if it's burned out, the gas doesn't flow
to the burner and the burner won't ignite. If this is the problem, you
may need to replace either the igniter or the gas safety valve. Usually
the igniter is to blame.
Other causes
Other reasons that your oven may not bake are:
The clock settings are incorrect (if you have timed baking or a self-cleaning oven).
The thermostat is defective.
The safety valve that prevents accidental gas flow is defective.
The selector switch is defective.
My oven has code Fo displayed. It began with a
Hello, I had the same FO error. It turned out that the ribbon cable from the
front panel was not making good contact where it mated with the circuit
board. Remove ribbon cable and clean contacts on ribbon cable. Replace
cable and problem should resolve.
Thanks
Oven will not start correctly
The problem is usually the igniter not reaching the correct amp draw .When the igniter does not reach the correct amp draw it may allow the gas valve to partially open or not open at all. The igniters are inexpensive and easy to replace. There is a video at http://appliancehelponline.com/gasoventroubleshootvideo.html this will walk you thru the correct procedure for performing this test. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.
Displaying F1 error
How to test many brands of Ranges that are flashing a F1 fault code: You have either a bad ERC (clock) or a bad touch pad.
- Disconnect power to stove
- Gain access to the back of the clock (electronic range control or ERC).
- Unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC. This will be a flat wire approx. 1 1/2" to 2" wide.
- Make sure everything is clear and will not short out when power is turned back on.
- Turn power back on to stove.
- Watch for the F1 and listen for the beep.
- If you get the F1 and beep, replace the ERC.
- If after approx. 30 minutes you do NOT get the F1 and hear the beep, replace the touch pad.
NOTE: Some models incorporate the touch pad and the clock as one part.
I have a 24
HI. This is a basic communication issue that will concern, either the control board, or touch/Key pad assembly. Normally, this will produce a stuck key, which will cause one of the power relays to become suspended.
Determine if The problem is with the Key Panel or Control by:
1. Pushing CLEAR/OFF pad.
2. Disconnecting the key pad Ribbon Cable from control(main), and waiting at least 32 seconds to see if Code recurs
If code recurs, problem is in the control. Replace control.
If code does not recur, problem is with the Key Panel.
NOTE_ Some models incorporate the touch/Key pad into the ERC as a single assembly(Whole device), in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock).
I used the self clean and now the oven won't heat.
Hi, The most likely problem is the igniter was damaged during the clean cycle. Take the floor out of the oven and the flame spreader. set the oven for 350. If the igniter does not glow turn the power off and pull the igniter out and check it with an ohms meter. If as I suspect it reads open you should replace it. If the igniter glows it still may be bad. The igniter should glow bright yellow to the point where you can't look at it. If it glows and uneven yellow/orange it's bad and again you should replace it. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment. Mike

Our oven door is on
There may be a problem with the motor for the door lock. You may need to take out the unit if in case you are unable to open the door. The motor is located under the cooktop. You would need to open oven door, and look under the
front lip of the cooktop. Take out the screws and lift up
on the cooktop and you'll see it. Check if the motor is running. If it is working you may have bad switches in the assembly which tells the motor to run or stop.
