Hello Darard

Yes this is correct, when you plug the microwave into the wall socket, the microwave will work and heat food up. When you unplug it from the wall a safety device cuts in and the microwave goes into passive mode and appears to be dead. This is to protect you from *****. If you take the cover off, beware though as there are two things inside just waiting to kill you. One is the Capacitor which stores about 5,000 volts. The second is the core of the magnetron (the microwave emitter) which contains Berylium, which is a highly poisonous metallic element.

As a moderator here, I have edited out your phone number. This site gets 7 million questions a year and many more million views. At least some of those crazy people are going to want to phone you at 3:00am for a little chat, or there will be scammers phoning you to tell you how they can fix your microwave over the phone for $100.

Remove the air grill first. Should be a couple of screws. Then you will see one screw holding the keypad in on top. Take it out and it will tilt forward. Make sure you unplug any power source first before you try removing any screws. Once you have the keypad leaning forward there will be some connectors holding the keypad in. Unplug those and lift the keypad up and out.

dont use the microwave until you retrieve what dropped inside when you removed the port. The grinding is most likely a foreign object that is hitting the moving parts of the microwave and causing sparking. It can catch fire

We see and repair this a lot. The problem is on the controller assembly.
This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too.
Since the circuit boards are no longer available, repair is the only option. Details are here.

Behind the top grill above the door is an access panel to change the light bulb. If the bulb is good but light still don't work, its possible the door switch is bad, but normally if the switch is bad the turn table won't work either. Most likely just a bad bulb part number you would seek is WB36X10003 this is not cheap for a bulb, you maybe able to get a replacement from a local lighting center near you. its a 40 watt, 130V bulb

Good Luck

If there is no power at all to the display or the panel then it is failure of the board. But if there is power without heating, if the turntable/fan/light works, then it can be related to failure of relay, Magnetron, Waveguide or capacitor.

It is possible, you have removed and checked the filters, still the intake is low even without the protective filters. The system will need to be taken apart to find the opstruction, or as you said a hole in the venting mechanism.

This is one of three things. The capacitor, the diode or the generator. Since it involves high voltage and microwave radiation,l dont recommend that you do this repair yourself but you can . If you need further information please post
