I am thinking that the retailer is not up to scratch with gas regulations and gas heater designs and standards IT might be better if you talk with an accredited gas fitter and clarify what the regulations and standards are applicable to installing gas heaters in homes Failing that you can get information from companies like origin ( or like company in your state ), and other gas suppliers some of whom sell approved heaters for homes

Can I convert a rinnai rce-229a from propane source to natural gas source

It should be. You should be able to replace the oriface and the regulator. Propane is at a higher pressure than natural gas.

I have an Rinnai Avenger

Paul, the Error Code Fault 13, indicates a Combustion Control Fault. This could mean, not enough gas for safe combustion or to much gas for continued operation. In any event, if requires a service call from an authorized Rinnai Service Technician to solve.

Just in case you have misplaced your Owner's Manual, I have included a link to it, that you can download and print for future reference.

My rinnai rce 229 will only start on timer button

To cancel the ON TIMER here's what you need to do:
.
Press the "ON Timer" button or press the "ON-OFF" button.
The setting will be canceled and the timer indicators will go out.

TO RESET THE UNIT

The ON Timer will be canceled if the power plug is removed from the power point, a power failure while
the appliance was in standby mode, or if the ON Timer setting is canceled. "00" will flash on the digital
monitor when power is reinstated. Pressing the ON button and starting the unit will delete the =00".

Hope this helps you.

Hi there, looking for help

I am unclear whether you have problem with the rinnai gas heater or the hot water system.

Assuming it is the gas heater refer page 10 of this manual which might be close enough to your model and try the remove air from gas supply procedure. Hope this helps.

If water heater then please provide make and model number.
