White scrren on ipod classic but works on itunes
Is your ipod still under warranty?
If so make an appointment at your closest Apple Store and they will replace the iPod for you at no charge.
If it is out of warranty, you may need to replace the LCD.
If you have dropped the ipod the LCD could be damaged and not be cracked.
Try restoring it in Itunes and see if that helps.
If not Replace the LCD and you should be fine.
If this helps please leave a vote on fixya

Resetting volume control on classic ipod
You could try resetting the classic to it's default settings but this will wipe the data on the classic. You do this by connecting your ipod to your computer then under devices click on your ipod and then click restore and follow the instructions to complete the restore process. It may be the case if you have backed up the classic before in itunes you could restore it back to what was on it before but it could again restore the combination to the one you do not know.
