Unlock

The iPod is a portable music player made by Apple. As of early 2011, Apple sells four models: iPod shuffle, iPod classic, iPod nano and iPod touch. If your iPod experiences a problem such as not responding or freezing, you can reset it to see if that takes care of the problem. IPod Shuffle The iPod shuffle is the smallest iPod model, with 2GB of storage. It has no screen and attaches to your clothing with a clip, making it well suited for exercising while listening to music. When it doesn't respond, or if the status light is solid red, you can reset it. Slide the three-way switch left toward the word "Off," covering the green bar. Wait 10 seconds, and then slide the switch back to reveal the green bar to turn it back on. IPod Classic The iPod classic has a 160GB hard drive for storing music, videos and pictures. If it experiences a problem, you can easily reset it. Slide the "Hold" switch to the "Hold" position and then slide it back. Press "Menu" and the center button simultaneously on the click wheel and hold them for about six seconds, until Apple's logo appears on the screen. IPod Nano Apple's iPod nano has a touch-screen display and comes with 8GB or 16GB of storage, depending on the configuration. It has a pedometer and an FM radio. If the iPod nano doesn't respond, reset it. Press the "Sleep/Wake" button and the "Volume Down" button simultaneously and hold them until the screen gets dark, and then wait a few more seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen, followed by the home screen. IPod Touch The iPod touch has a touch-screen display, two cameras for shooting pictures and movies, and Wi-Fi for accessing the Internet. Its capacity ranges from 8GB to 64GB, depending on the configuration. You can use the iPod touch to send email and make video calls, as well as play games and run applications. If the iPod touch freezes or otherwise isn't working, you can get it running again after resetting it. Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button and the "Home" button simultaneously for at least 10 seconds, until Apple's logo appears on the screen.

How to remove the screen lock

Where did all the lovely music go? When your iPod Classic freezes up, you may need to restart or reset the iPod. Follow these steps to reset an iPod Classic, or in fact any iPod with a Click Wheel. Make sure the iPod Classic isn't simply paused or locked. Check the screen for a lock symbol. If you see a lock, unlock the Hold switch. You should be back in business. Put the iPod on a flat surface to stabilize it. Slide the Hold switch on, then slide it off. Hold down Select and Menu together for several seconds with two fingers. Make sure your finger isn't touching the Click Wheel. When the Apple logo appears, release Select and Menu. If the iPod Classic doesn't reset, repeat the above step. If that still doesn't get your iPod Classic to restart, plug the iPod into a power adapter or a computer and see if it starts up. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1382?viewlocale=en_US(URL)

Ipod 120 classic backs up only 231 songs

Sometimes it is easiest to start over. In the case of the popular iPod, clearing the hard drive is the easiest way to remove the files and restore the drive. The process is rather basic using the Apple iTunes software. Once your 120 GB iPod is restored, you can quickly sync all of your songs saved on your computer back onto the iPod. Properly complete the restoration process and enjoy your revitalized iPod. Open the iTunes application on your computer. If you do not yet have the iTunes application, you can download it from Apple's website for free. From there you can easily download and install it. Open the folders on your computer which contain your saved music files and drag and drop them into iTunes. If prompted to convert to M4a, select "Convert." Connect your 120GB iPod to the computer using the provided USB cable. Click the "Restore" button on the main screen in iTunes, then click "Restore" a second time once prompted to initiate the restore process. Click the "Next" option, then "OK" once the restoration is complete. Your music will no longer be on your iPod, but will remain in your iTunes library. Click the "Sync" button on the bottom left side of the iTunes screen to sync the music library with the iPod.

My ipod classic is only playing out of 1 headphone, it is the same with all headphones

Step 1: Your trusty iPod has been a close and reliable friend for a long time but one morning only the sound of air comes through the headphones. The likely culprit is a loose or broken headphone jack that is in need of repair. Rather than spend an exorbitant amount of money to have someone fix it you can easily make the repair on your own and have your iPod friend back. Read on to learn how to fix a broken headphone jack for a fifth generation 30GB or 60GB iPod video. Open the iPod case with a small flathead screwdriver by slipping it under the centerline of the case. You will find a series of clips you have to release in order for the case to open up about an inch. Locate the headphone jack connection and verify that there are no broken wires. Fix broken wires quickly by twisting the wires back together and wrapping with electrical tape. Test the iPod for sound by connecting your headphones to the jack. Replace the wires completely if you find static coming from the iPod jack. Fold a business card twice so that it wants to unfold and slip it into the case over the blue sponge. This creates the pressure needed to hold the jack in place and allow a solid connection. Push the case together without engaging the clips on the side and test to make sure the jack is now working. Try a thicker business card or fold the first one again to get enough pressure onto the jack connection if the first card didn't fix the problem. Press the case fully together until the clips click into place. Use extra care when inserting your headset to ensure the jack remains in place. My ipod not recognized by itunes in order to reinstall the software

Connections b> The USB cable must be securely connected both to the iPod and to the selected USB port on the computer. Reattach the cable at both ends, and click "Computer" in the start menu to see if the iPod is shown connected to the drive for that USB port. b> Drivers b> If the drivers of the computer responsible for the USB interface are out of date, malfunctioning or incorrectly installed, that may also cause the iPod to not be recognized by the computer. If this is the case, the device may not appear in iTunes and there may be an exclamation point next to the device in Device Manager. b> Software b> The latest version of iTunes is recommended to best communicate with the various models of iPod. Go to the iTunes website or click "Help" and "Check for Updates" in iTunes to install the most recent update. Further, the computer must be running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 for PCs, or OS X v.10.4.11 or later for Macs. b> Battery b> The iPod's battery must have sufficient charge to be recognized in iTunes; charge it either via USB connection or another power source if the indicator shows a low battery. Once the battery has charged, try to connect the iPod to the computer via USB cable again. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 Ipod not recognized http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1495 Device not recognized
