My sharp aquos stopped working with a blinking power light £2000 was the repair quote for a new board and LCD panel for a £699 TV after they tried the capacitor replacement
RE: Aquos LC40C32U. I
You can't blame any component in the TV failing after lightening storms. Get lightening arrestors on the antenna cable and use a surge protector on the power cord before you replace the power board again.
My Sharp Aquos LCD TV LC-40C37U will not power up.
Good day sir/maam, chances are, yes or no, yes, the surge do has the ability to damage your TV, but no, modern TVs are autovolt (it can work from 90v-240v) so check the manual or back panel to confirm. The most deadly part of the surge is it can hit more than 500v at a split of a second, damaging your TV's switching power supply. The TV's power supply is bad. it cannot produce the proper voltage to power your TV. thats why its on standby. Bring it to your dealer for proper advice on the status of your TV.
No sound when i connect through hdmi cable
Make sure that when you go through the menu on the Sharp, you go to the setup options. Then, go to the video options and check to see what kind of HDMI connection you are using: PCHDMI or AVHDMI. After you've verified this, then go back to the main menu and next check the audio setup (should be below the video setup) and verify that it is using the same connection as the video. It most likely says RCA or line-in, you just need to change it and close the menu.side note: make sure the volume level is at a moderate level, you don't want to blow your speakers with full volume after you fix the volume issue.
Screen gets small
I had this same problem I got a new cable box mine was outdated. However some channels still are smaller than the screen check different channels to see if they are all the same/small. the new cable box was called a MIDI box. My flatscreen was new when this happen it was the cable box not the tv
MY LC4032U GOES BLACK SOUND STILL THERE. PICTURE
I have the same model 3yrs old. Your problem is a loose
contact on one of the circuit boards. Unplug the tv and
remove the back cover. Locate the side that has the input
plugs. On the opposite side of the tv there is a circuit board
that has 10 pairs of wires plugged into it. Remove this circuit
board and clean the mating surface between the board and
the tv. This is where the lost contact is occurring. Reinstall
board and tighten screws. Reinstall back cover. Happy
watching.

I'm not certain of the specific model number of your set, but this should be the same for all Sharp Aquos models.
First, navigate to TV input, and select menu
Next, enter setup and select, "ez setup"
In the ez setup menu, select "home", not "store", for television location.
This should turn off the demo mode and solve your issue.
My Sharp Aquos won't turn
Hello,
first,
make sure the TV is correctly plugged into the wall. You can try
another outlet. If that doesn't work, then your TV is certainly having a
power problem.......
The issue you describe is consistent with a power
supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This
problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or
excess power supply or power surge......
The TV is receiving current
but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of
the TV because of the defective power supply board. You might be lucky
it's just a blow fuse. Also a defective transformer can cause your TV
not to power on......
All these can be checked on the power supply board.......
But
more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I
do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective
capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the
power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter
capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the
others.
The value of these capacitors will be different, most
likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V
sometimes).
You can replace them with same values but I would
recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V)
for reliability purposes.
What happens is,these bulged top
capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will
malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding
enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).
You
can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can
order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for
electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors)
most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a
refurbished complete power board to save you some stress.......
Note:
There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T
con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most
common cause for this issue.
If you don't know about TV repairers,
take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also,
note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the
TV back cover.
Yours sincerely.

NEED TO GET BACK ON
either hit the input buttons to see which input the cable is on or flip through the channels to find the one with the picture or call the company for what channel it is on if the inputs doesn't work
My Sharp AQUOS LC-40C32U's video goes away seconds
This issue is normally caused by a transformer going out on the inverter board. The inverter board is in charge of turning the backlight on and off. When you have a component (Transformer) on the board go out, it will cause the whole board to not respond, the rest of the TV works fine which is why you still have audio and can most likely change the channels and act as if the TV is working fine with the exception of course that you cannot see anything on the screen. The board itself is very easy to replace there is no soldering required (unless you try to fix it to the component level) but in most part it is better to purchased the whole board and just swapping it.
