Yes it is possible. You should be able to set the melody to off, low, medium or high I believe you can get to the setting by doing this:

• Press the MENU button to display the on-screen menu.
• Press the up or down button to select "Setup", then press the ENTER button.
• Select "Melody" by pressing the up or down button, then press the ENTER button.
• Select the setting you want (Off) by pressing the up or down button repeatedly.
• Press the ENTER button.
• Press the EXIT button to exit.
