They do have an overheating problem. It is serious and my husband solved the problem. I wish I could get this out to everyone on the internet. Behind the TV, on the left, is a cover over the lamp and color wheel. Remove it. Buy a SMAL fan at Walmart for about $10 and set it there. Make sure it is running every time you turn your TV on. You will never have overheating problems again. Our TV Samsung would run for about an hour, then the color would washout. NEVER AGAIN. It is perfect.

It is the lamp but try to check the filament of the lamp if defective because if the color wheel is defective you will hear a whirring noise.
