Then you buy a new TV.

This is your optimal course of dealing with the situation.

Does your set respond to the controls on the set itself?

If you, are you able to access the setup menu to perform a factory reset?

If so, press menu, navigate over to setup, then choose reset defaults, to see if that improves your situation.

I wouldn't turn it on either. Not needed, it won't work anyways, just cause more problems. You will need to have the rear panel removed and observe for shorted wires, burnt or swelled capacitors and likely a faulty power supply aka high voltage transformer

Its not because there was no signal it because your sending to much resolution at that tv so it shut down to protect itself.

Allot of people auto think that there tv are hd so any signal will work, That is not true and you need to check your video card to see if its supportive of this Polaroid. Not all video cards work to pass signal does not matter if its meant for the computer or not.

1. check your video card resolution
2. Adjust it to the lowest then try again.
3. Try a different computer.

If those 3 does not work then we got something and that will need to involve a locate TV repairs to figure out what is wrong with your tv or its setup.

Your power supply board needs to be REPAIRED not REPLACED, replacing the board will just make the problem happen again in two years or less, if you can use a screwdriver you can send me the board and I will repair it for less than it would cost you to do it yourself ($50) with the correct components. this will require you opening the back cover of the television to check if the wire used to connect the speakers are not having partial contact and do check for dry soldering on the audio section of the printed circuit board.

Polaroid's power supplies have been notorious in early models...suspect this is where your problem is. If you are out of warranty, the supply is usually located dead center in the back of the TV. Easy to get out, easy to put in...not sure of the money. Mine was a hundred bucks, but I bought it from a third party. Good luck.

Hey listen bulldog, I am just having the same problem! Exact same thing, standy led on, power supply and boards seem like new, but tv doesnt power up! I read a schematic at http://www.polaroidsupport.com/polaroid/docs/TLA-04011C_TLXB-4011_TLXB-4241_ServiceManual_20070613.pdf and if you follow it through it states, to change the control box!! I have fair confidence that I can replace the control box because I have experience in soldering and have built my own computers before as also swapping major components in laptops as well! So I am willing to take the risk to fix this but heres the problem!! I dont know where or what the control box is or where to go to buy a new one! POLAROID customer service is aweful, unless you know the manufacturing plant and can go there, they wont be much help! I hope this info helps you, if you got the problem fixed can you tell me what you did or where I can look to get my issue resolved! Need anything else just post here!

I just fixed one of these. Control board. About $160 at www.partstore.com . Should be a simple replacement. Let me know how it works out.

They are not widely available. Suggest if the screen has a fault, replace unit

Check your settig menu, it should give you options. OR try loking in instruction manual.
REMEMBER the large majority of TV programmes are NOT HD right now so mpstly you are not missing anything,

I have the same TV and I just replaced the Capacitors. It came with 2 10000UF 10V caps and I put in 2 1000UF 35Volt caps from radio shack. Its like brand new. There is even a video on how to change them on You Tube.

Look at the power supply first; look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

on your laptop keyboard, Hit the function key+ f8 to toggle between laptop screen and monitor. If not f8 then there should be a pic of monitor or crt/lcd.

Look again to make sure no cables/plugs are left out.
There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc. Look for 5vdc, 12vdc, and 24dvc.
