TV is on one channel and will not work with remote

I've run into this same issue. Although not a complete fix, I was able to program the tv with a basic universal remote. Try using the Goldstar remote codes. While I'm unable to use the channel buttons, I can change channels manually and turn the tv on/off and use the volume button. Again, not a fix, but a work around for now.

How do i clean my screen?

Turn your TV off and let it rest for 15 minutes. Doing so will cool the screen down, making the screen safe to clean.
Use a soft cloth with a mild soap solution to clean the TV. I recommend to avoid use a cleaning solutions as it may damage the screen in the long run.

Please let me know if you require further assistance. Thanks for understanding.

Only getting blue screen on both tvs. one keeps

New TV's or new problem? If these are new TV's it could be that they are set on something other than the Cable Input Option.

On your remote press the input button to get an onscreen menu and set them to cable.

Otherwise, if you installed these yourself recently, recheck all connections to make sure they are set up correctly, using the manuals that came with the TVs. My guess is that you may have connected them incorrectly to/from the cable input device.

If these are not new TVs and this is a new problem, take a look at your outside cable box. Occasionally one can have a problem with an input cable. If that is the case, the cable company needs to be called to replace or repair.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Televison wont come on,, keeps

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.

My TV was manufactured on

Hello,

your TV is having a power problem. The power supply board is defective that's why the TV won't power up. Its receiving power but it cannot transfer the current to the necessary part of the TV because a capacitor, diode, etc may have been faulty. Until these bad components are replaced, the TV might not come on.

The problem may have come as a result of power surge or irregular power supply/excess voltage entering into the TV.

If you know about electronic repairers, I would suggest that you open the TV and read the power board/panel with a meter, detect the bad component and replace it.

If you don't know about electronic repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you.

I wish you good luck.

Power Problem

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems the issue is with the power board or the main board and we’ll need to check few things. When you open the unit up; take a look at the power board-the board where the power cords/plugs goes into. You might see some filter capacitors a little bulged up in the top-If this is the case-this is your defective part(you can try to replace them-but some soldering equipment is needed). If not, then probably the main board has gone bad. This is the other board-where all the inputs are going into. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and know how to solder/re-solder components. Please note that the TV components consists high voltages even when in off position. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Television will not turn on,

Hi,

Before you Proceed, Disconnect the Power Supply, Unplug the Cord and then try to plug in after few minutes, say 30 minutes. If the Problem persists, more likely it's a Faulty Power Supply Board.

You need to have some electronic Experience to Open the TV and then you need to locate the Board. Once you find the Board, you need to pull the wires and try to Look for Swelled / Bulged / Leaked Capacitor. You need to go to Radio Shack or Order Online and then replace that. Once replaced, that would fix the issue. Usually, Bad Caps do have Ammonia kind of odor.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.
