Dell Latitude E4300 Notebook Questions & Answers
2wsx keys not working on my dell latitude e4300
Could be dust or other stuff stuck in your keyboard. You can use a hair dryer without the heat on and blow the keyboard several times. If that doesn't work, the cheap way is to use a USB keyboard. Worst thing is you need to change your keyboard. It would cost round about 30$ to 50$ depending on where you live. Mine cost 70$. If you are still under warranty run to your supplier and make them change the keyboard before the warranty runs out.
Good luck.
Why won't my laptop power up
Remove battery and power with only the AC adapter. If it does not power, try with another working adapter (still without the battery).
If it still does not power up, then your laptop has developed a motherboard power problem. In that case, you need a technical person with motherboard chip-level knowledge to help you; probably a chip has gone bad.
How to turn on keyboard light of dell latitude E4300
I also had that problem when I bought a Dell E4300 online without any drivers installed. It just needs the appropriate drivers for the backlit keyboard to work. You can simply go to the Official Dell driver download page at this link
Dell Drivers Download Center
and install the Download Installer. You put in your product information and the rest is automated. The next step is to run the scan and up pops all the drivers that are missing from your product. It's easy but it can be a little time consuming.
How can I reset my system password?
Disabling a
Forgotten Password
If you forget the system password, you will be unable to
operate the system until disabling the password. Disabling the
password involves going inside the computer and changing a jumper
setting (twice) on the system board.
To disable a forgotten password, perform the following steps:
- Turn off the system and remove the cover.
- Move the jumper plug on jumper A to pins 2 and 3 to
disable the password(s).
- Turn on the computer. Powering up the system with jumper
A set to the disabled position erases existing
password(s). Before assigning a new system password, you
must reset jumper A to the enabled position.
- Turn off the computer.
- Place a jumper plug on pins 1 and 2 of jumper A to enable
the password features.
- Replace the computer cover.
HOW DO I TURN ON
The backlit keyboard is optional. You can go to support.dell.com and type in your service tag, from there you can get a parts list and see if you have the backlit keyboard. From what I'm finding, if you have the backlight, it will come on when you turn the system on. You can buy a backlit keyboard and swap it out if you must have the light.

Be very careful about this. When I used my laptop all the time the same thing would happen from time to time.
If you touch the mouse pad at all it will move your cursor. Even lightly touching it with part of your hand can do the trick. Its best to hold your hands as high off the laptop as you are comfortable with. Try this and see if the problem persists.
Cannot access hard drive on
Pull it out of the notebook, install it in an external housing, plug that into a working computer, and see if that can read or fix it.
