Hi Gertha Switch Mode Power Supply. Either a PCB or a Metal Box. Usually the first place the AC wires go to internally. They fail usually because of Bad Electrolytic Capacitors. Look at the Electrolytic "Tin Can" Caps and see if they Bulge from the top or are leaking on top or bottom, Replacing these with similar or better values does the trick. A lot of Vizio's have connection issues. You can always try a different authentication method on the modem. TKIP, AES, PSA 1 or 2. Also try different broadcast channels. Consult your router/modem manual for instructions on that. Also if your neighborhood is saturated with a lot of other connections that can cause issues. If you can, try a direct wired connection. Or possibly try upgrading the router. Good luck.

I don't know if your refresh rate on your TV is adjustable or the signal being fed is inadequate. What connection are you using with the TV? If it's HDMI, make sure the cables are HDCP-certified. Otherwise this will always happen. If it is simply your TV, are environmental variables (dust, cold, heat, etc.) causing the TV to malfunction? Give it room to breathe and avoid cases without holes for the TV to breathe. TVs don't operate properly when they are stressed out.

MAIN BOARD IS SHOT, common problem with older Vizio's

I have a similar problem with HULUplus - I think I'll return the TV to WalMart and try another brand. It's the second VIZIO I bought in the last 5 mos. that has had issues. The first TV had popping (sounded electrical) sounds, also cut out sometimes. Would U-Verse have something to do with it? That may be a dumb question, but who knows?

You will need to get a diagnosis done on the set. It could be a power supply issue or a main board issue. Your problem is between one of those two boards.
