The power supply is a SMPS unit and if the voltages are measured it can be confirmed but in most cases the standby light might blink with different rapidity to indicate a fault relevant to the processor. It is possible that most of these indicate that there are errors in the processing section . Since there is a possible short or leak in the circuit the output driver section can take in huge current to trip the SMPS or from advice from the micro processor. Remove the power plugs and make sure that high voltage sections are discharged of the potential stored in capacitors. Look for visible signs of leak or of busted capacitors. Look for bulged capacitors or damaged components- burnt or busted. Use a multimeter to check the continuity or shorting in components, if so detach from circuit and test . If the voltage builds up and the set power ON and then shuts up then the suspected section must be checked in detail.

The processor must have the +5 voltage to the function properly , the +B and secondary voltages also must be checked to infer the fault. Trace with caution and in running through the signal path , circuit trail.

The sound gets low sometimes

Typically, this is a broadcast issue, and not your unit.

Turn on no video,

Polaroid is most known for its cameras and line of film, but the company produces a variety of other products, including televisions. If you have an LCD flat screen television (the only TV the company currently builds) and are running into issues with the device, a few troubleshooting steps may correct whatever problems you are encountering.

Instructions

Power down the LCD Polaroid television and disconnect it from the wall outlet. Leave the TV turned off for a few minutes, then connect the electrical cable to the power port and power the TV on. This performs a hard reset on the Polaroid TV and corrects most of the performance issues you may encounter (such as the audio popping on high frequencies and the color of the TV being distorted).

Check the cable connection running into the television. Make sure the cables are completely inserted into the connecting ports. If the cables are not inserted completely the audio and video signals drop in and out.

Push firmly down on the corners of the television if there are white spots leaking onto the edges of your display screen. This is caused by light leaking in from the case if it is not attached securely, causing a bright light on the screen. Pushing the case back into place corrects this problem.

Power on the television and press the "Menu" button found on the remote control. Select the option you want to adjust (audio or video) and a series of preferences will appear on the screen. Select the audio or video preference you want to adjust ("Bass," "Color," "Contrast"), then push the left or right control button on the remote to increase or decrease the settings.

My Vizio LCD TV screen fades to dark. Sound stays on.

I w having this same issue when watching a Blu-Ray disc. I found it to be dependent upon what picture mode the TV was set to. By this I mean certain picture modes would cause the TV to dim during dark scenes of a movie. Changing the picture mode helped a lot.

I have a Vizio TV

The manufacturer usually have a year warranty on their equipment. Look through your info and contact the company. Let them know that the audio decoder in the TV has failed and that you request further action on their part. Make sure you have your receipt handy. Oh, you did register it right? if not do that now with the info you have on when you bought it. (lots of times it doesn't matter if you register it late or not so-long as you have proof of purchase)

No Sound on 42" Visio

The easiest thing to check for is the mute button isn't activated. IF that isn't it, you might want to go thru the on screen menus and check under the audio tab. Make sure it is selected to "on" in menu. Let me know what you fine...Good luck Sincerely HDTV GURU JAY

I have a 42" Visio

I would try to look on the power supply first for popped capacitors that supply the 24v rail for the backlight inverter.

Having sound is a positive when it comes to repair. This means that only your screen is not lighting.

If you repair the 24v line and check the 5v feed also going to the BN_on (on) the backlight inverter and you still have no picture...you will need a new backlight inverter.

Hope this helps! Please rate!

The screen on our 42"

  • Turn on your VIZIO HDTV. Press the orange button with the "VIZIO" logo, which looks like a letter "V" with a triangular wedge in the center. If there is no VIZIO logo button, press the "Menu" button. Press the "Right Arrow" button twice to highlight the "Setup" icon, which looks like a wrench.

  • 4

Press the "Down Arrow" button three times to highlight the "Wide" menu item. Press the "Left Arrow" or "Right Arrow" buttons repeatedly until the correct aspect ratio is selected. "Normal" is for a standard definition 480i signal, which has a 3:4 aspect ratio. "Wide" is for high definition signals, and has a 16:9 aspect ratio. "Panoramic" stretches the outside of the image while keeping the center at the normal aspect ratio. "Zoom" enlarges the image on the screen. Press the "Last" button twice to close the VIZIO on-screen menu.

  • 5

Watch the image on the screen of your VIZIO HDTV to ensure that the picture is at the right aspect ratio. If it still looks distorted, it's most likely because you chose the wrong aspect ratio setting, because your source device is set incorrectly or because you used the wrong connection method.

My vizio remote does not work

First make sure the batteries are fully charged.

Also check the battery terminals to make sure there is no rust or oxidation on the contacts that interfere with the flow of electricity from the batteries. Scrape clean if necessary.

Also make sure the lens / led bulb on the front on the remote is not dirty / dusty / cracked.

Make sure there is nothing blocking the light path from your remote to the receiver sensor on the front of the tv. It is usually located on the lower front portion near the manual buttons so make sure you don't have a kleenex box or something in the way.

If your remote is the one that came with the tv, then try holding down the RESET button on the remote for 5 seconds. Then see if it works on your tv.

If your remote is a universal remote then try the following codes:

    1169, 1168, 0081, 0112, 0143, 1011, 0050 or 081 if it is a 3 digit code you need.

Good luck and please post back if this was helpful and with how you made out.

Vizio HDMI HDTVmodel VW48LHDTV10A TV sound went

The inverter board is common on this set to go out, once dark then you can use a flashlight to determine that it is bad, 2 in away from screen and you should see the picture in background, the sound is something else, it will be located on the main video board, look for bad caps bulging out.
