This looks like a really dumb question compared to

Its not really required but noble. There are only four screws on mine to open, (unplug first). be prepared to support the drum when the front comes forward. use dust brush and lower suction setting if you can on Vac. Short of that, do what you can with a crevice attachment. Best though to clean out the outlet hose because built up lint can be a fire hazard. Clean around the vane outdoors so it seals in the winter.

Have a Maytag Dependable Care Dryer that is about

you have to take it apart,it could be a roller or the belt pulley but you have to pull the drum to do this and you need a tool to remove the clip that holds the roller on,it's just a pair of needle nose plyers with like pointy tips on it to fit into the clip to pop it off, that's called a jesus clip if you drop it you'll see why it's called that lol,you can go on utube and you can find a video on how to take your dryer apart.i think the part number is 12001541 for the roller

MED6400TQ0 taking too long to dry

Problems could be: 1) the pipe and hoses that take the hot air out of the machine to the outside could be plugged with lint. The worst kind are in apartments where you cannot see where the pipe goes. If this is it, taking the hose off completely and exhausting to the room air may show you that was what was wrong. The inside of the machine can also be loaded with lint, requiring a dismantling of the whole machine to clean it.2) Are the clothes almost dry coming from the washer? If a washer begins to have problems like a slipping drive belt, it can leave the clothes too wet, overwhelming the dryer. 3) I've seen a heating element partially fail, causing this problem.Be blessed.

Complete manual, squeeky noise then shuts down

Hi Hi Harold ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS Your problem sounds like the drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication, or maybe your drum belt has slipped off of the idler arm pulley. Note: This method works with most front loading machines. Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer if you have to.Note: Some tops hinge and tilt backwards so they do not have to be removed and the electrical console with stay with the lid. Also remove the lint filter and the screws holding the lint filter housing in place. Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.Remove the front of the dryer by removing two screws located on either side of the top of the dryer housing and unplug the door switch. This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor. Now is a good time to replace the front felt seal on the drum if it needs to be replaced. Be sure to use a good grade of weatherproof cement on the seal to glue it to the drum, sometimes the glue is furnished with the seal. Now is also a good time to check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the idler arm pulley and also to check the belt condition for wear.Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt.Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear they will make a thumping type of noise. If your drum rollers have too much wear on them replace them.If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them and are only squeeling then they probably only need lubrication. Remove the rollers and clean the shafts that the roller rolls on, remove any hair, dust, etc from roller and shaft.Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil, or a light lubricant like Vaseline. Reassemble the dryer.Plug back into your electrical receptical. This should solve your noise problem. Is there a secret to unplugging a dryer?

No, just pull the plug. If you'd feel better, wrap the plug with a small towel when you pull it out. Be blessed.

Dryer won't start

Check your door switch. You should hear a click when you push and release it. If no click is heard, replace with this part.If the switch is good, the only other component that will be at fault is the thermal fuse, replace with this part.

Dryer just stopped wont turn

More than likely a broken belt. A fairly easy fix. Disconnect Dryer electric by shutting off the breaker. Then remove the front panel that surrounds the door. There are ususally a couple of screws on the bottom and you have to pot the top. Get a belt off the net or from a appliance dealer. The belt slips around the drum over the motor shaft and on a tension Idler wheel. Pop is back together and you good to go. Try checking You Tube and see if there is a video on dryer belt replacement. Good luck! :)
