Hi, I have an Advent 4211b

I can't help you recover from the problem, but I can tell you what the problem is. What is happening is, when you tried to recover, it messed with your boot partition for your install. You probably tried to restore a partition. So, what happens is when windows tries to start, it is getting references to software that is not where it should be, or more to the point, not configured with the correct registry entries. Your best bet is to wipe the drive completely, run a clean windows install and then restore only the files you need restored. That way it will not try overwriting your boot partition again. I hope this sheds some light on the situation. Good luck!

Hi... i have a Advent

Hi,

I suggest try to remove the HDD or the storage device on your laptop and take it to any computer local center and have them back up your data thats the safest way for not losing your data because if you try to fix it and you accidentally reformat the HDD or storage device you'll lose all your data. The HDD is located at the bottom of the laptop, try to remove all of the cover. It looks like on the picture.

ADVENT 4211-B KEEPS DROPPING WIRELESS CONNECTION

CONTINUAL DISCONNECTION OF WIRELESS CONNECTION There are a few things that can cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router. 1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move the wireless router away from brick or concrete walls, mirrors, fish tanks and if possible locate the wireless router higher up. 2. Have you secured your wireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? i.e. change the default password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID, and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC address filtering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s to connect to your wireless router. 3. You could be getting interference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arc welders, washing machines etc. If so, the power supply to the wireless routers and computers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, better still connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply). 4. Check the channels of the wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcast channel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currently used but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interference with your wireless router from other wireless routers and access points in your area.

My new dongle says no network when I put it in, whats wrong?

You will have to open up your network connections Click start control panel network connections this may vary depending on your operating system look for local area connection if you see a red x or a yellow exclamation or question mark ! ? you will need to update or install the driver or it could be firewalled. Make sure your antivirus program is not blocking the internet connection. If you are trying to connect through a modem/router you it should have come with a disk then you might have to connect the usb lead to your modem to get a connection then Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll to network adapters should see a yellow question ? exclamation mark ! or a red X right click install drivers. The driver might be on the disc supplied by your ISP internet service provider or the motherboard disc You only need to check the BIOS if you cant install the driver Make sure you Ethernet/internet is enabled in bios restart your computer during the boot up process you will see on your screen a certain key to press to enter set up (BIOS) press and hold that key to enter bios using arrow keys navigate to integrated peripherals look for SiS On Chip Pci Device press enter scroll to SiS 10/100m press enter make sure its "Enabled"ima Click start type cmd press enter you will be in DOS mode type in ipconfig press enter you will see all of your internet connection details type in your default gateway adress into your internet search should read something like 10.0.0.138 or you could download one cnetdownload.com on the homepage you will see a search bar type in the ethernet controller freeware you want/need Realtek RTL8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC http://download.cnet.com/realtek-rtl8168-8111-pci/3000-2112_4-99235.html http://download.cnet.com/network-drivers/3150-2112_4-0-1-4.html

Turning on the webcam

Click start control panel view devices and printers you should see your webcam from there if you are have trouble with your webcam Click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down image devices you could see a yellow question mark? right click to reinstall drivers or update driver xp Click start right click on computer select properties device manager scroll to image devices expand right click to update driver in W7 http://download.cnet.com/2000-20_4.html on the home page you should see a search tab just type in what you are looking for IE: webcam name webcam driver you might have to try a few times to get it right software if you dont have the driver you will need to download one here rather doing a driver hunt which can take hours http://download.cnet.com/slimdrivers-free/3000-18513_4-75279940.html Windows XP/Vista/7/8 It might take some time being a freeware driver solution note: it will find all of your outdated drivers this is a free driver solutions This will automatically search for and find the correct driver you will have to update every driver individually once you update you might be asked whether you want to restart or make a system restore point click no to both of these then continue updating each driver free then restart once all of the drivers have been updated Some webcams and programs require additional software, although that should be installed with the webcam if things are right. But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash and Quicktime software are installed and up to date. But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including webcams, use DirectX for video processing. Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c - Windows Vista: DirectX 10). http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Which-version-of-DirectX-is-on-your-computer Hope this helps.

Windows does not start automatic

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

Advent 4211 screen to base connection problem

Video CableThe Video Cable connects to the motherboard. It then runs along under the Left Hinge, and connects to the back of LCD screen.{LED backlighting. Does not use a screen Inverter]Due to just normal opening, and closing of the laptop; the Video Cable may be pinched. This can cause the connection of the Video Cable TO motherboard, to be loose; and/or LCD screen.Solution is to partially disassemble the laptop, and PHYSICALLY make sure the connection at motherboard is tight.Visual inspection will NOT do.Connection at back of LCD screen needs to be Physically checked also. (Try to plug in tighter)Also visually inspect the sheath of the Video Cable, for apparent signs of damage.Any signs of damage to the sheath, may mean damage to the tiny wires inside the Video Cable.(Stretched/Broken)Also due to the age of the laptop, suspect cracking of the insulation, of the wires inside the Video Cable. If you have a multimeter, set it to OHM's (1K), and check continuity of every wire in the Video Cable.Or take it to a small computer store, and have the resident tech check it.The Advent 4211 is just a rebadged MSI Wind U100, according to my findings,Disassembly guide,http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/laptops/2008/07/05/breaking-wind/1That's the problem, the Video Cable,http://microdream.co.uk/advent-4211-c-lcd-screen-cable-k19-3030019-h58.html[ In the photo, the large connector at bottom plugs into the LCD screen. The smaller connector at the upper right plugs into the motherboard. The separate black wire you see with the eyelet on it, is a Ground wire ]For additional questions please post in a CommentRegards, joecoolvette
