The fuse was blown in my NN- SD297S over the

1. It is Panasonics way of selling parts and making money off of parts when it is never more than one thing. More than likely it is just one part. Like the control board. But it is hard to say without doing some testing. 2. It would cost way more than a new microwave to replace all of the parts. With parts and labor, it would cost around $1100 for parts and labor to replace all of the parts. But replacing just the part that is bad could be as little as $300. Depending on what failed to blow the fuse.

Microwave shows H98 problem. How

H97, H98 and H99 appears in display window a short time alter start key is pressed and no microwave oscillation.

NOTE:

DO NOT try to REPAIR this Inverter Power Supply (U) and also DO NOT RE-ADJUST PRESET VOLUME on the board. It is very dangerous to repair or adjust without sufficient test equipment because this circuit handles very high voltage and very large current. Off alignment or inverter board operation is dangerous. Operating a misaligned inverter circuit is dangerous due to the very high voltage and current that is produced by this board. Defective boards must be replaced with a new one.

Hi,

H97 means that there's a problem with your inverter, magnetron, or digital programming circuit. It is suggested to contact a repair person to deal with this kind of problem to your unit as the repair involves high voltage to deal with.

Please accept the solution if it's helpful. Do get back to us for any further query.

What dose h97 mean in

H95, H97, H98 or H99 mean that there's a problem with your inverter, magnetron, or digital programming circuit.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

Heard a pop and then an electrical smell. Unit is ...

No that is a very dangerous situation. What is sounds like is you had a short that blew apart but not completely damaging the wires. You should unplug, and open it if its out of warranty and inspect the wires. If the wires are partially burned it can heat up and cause an electrical fire.

Panasonic Microwave about 9 years old with

In all likelihood the mangnetron is failing, or perhaps even the Power Supply is faulty. You need to have it serviced by a reputable service centre/man.
Ensure you get a firm "Quote" before proceeding, and remember these days the cost of repair can equal or exceed the price of a new one.

Microwave inverter technology - better now?

An inverter-based unit is more efficient and uses less power than a design based on a high voltage transformer.

But with increased complexity / higher component count comes a statistically higher chance of failure, especially in inverter circuit boards that are machine soldered, where sometimes not enough solder gets on parts that are large, run hot, and/or run with high currents. This can lead ot bad connections and blown components.

As a longtime technician, I have always liked Panasonics very much, but I have never been a huge fan of inverter-based designs due to those factors. But again, as a technician I repair my own stuff, so it's not a big deal. And everything is slowly moving that way anyway.

I would not at all discourage you from buying an inverter-based Panasonic, but this is one of those rare times when I would advise you buy an extended warranty with it.

Once it's out of warranty, if it fails, call around and look for a repair shop that has a technician who does "component-level repairs" on circuit boards, instead of just changing boards. That will save you on repair bills.

It's often best to find a TV shop that also does microwaves, instead of an "appliance service center" which does not work on electronics.

You can find authorized Panasonic servicers here. Bookmark that for later.
