Hi. Check the wiring on the batteries, red to red, black to black.
Did the machine operate before you put the new batteries in it?
Also check the battery lead connectors.
Check the motor led connectors.
Is the hand controll unit connected.
I once got called out to repair a scooter that wouldn't go. The customer had a chinchilla that had chewed all the wires under the machine.

Depending on your use, you need to plug in the batteries to charge at least 8 hours over night.

The second row of lights in the speed indicator. The two bottom buttons will increase and decrease the speed. The lower left button will decrease, the lower right will increase. You will see the second row of lights get bigger or smaller as you press those buttons to increase/decrease your speed. When the second row of lights is fully lit, you will be at the top speed.

Hi. your problem could be a couple of faults. Have you checked that both tyres have the same pressure in them? Problem could also be a faulty motor or brake unit. When these motors have done a few years work they build up carbon and copper dust from the brushes and the commutator. the motors can be tested for this if you find a clever serviceman. The motors should also be tested to see if they are both drawing the same current ( amps ) when in use. In answer to your last question, the answer is probably no. Good luck. Neil.

You will need tie downs to the power chair. It is a metal piece the fits over the chair post and sits under the seat and had two metal loops to hook on to. The Hoveround field technician will install it for you.You need to order the tie downs from Hoveround, your insurance will most likely NOT cover the cost.

The battery needed is a U1 battery, 12 volt,33 amps. You can find them at any battery warehouse store like Batteries Plus, Interstate Batteries, etc. The cost between seventy five and one hundred twenty dollars each and you will need to replace both at the same time. If you are the original owner of your Power Chair, your health insurtance may cover the replacement.

Would you keep your cellphone, laptop computer or other expensive electronic device inside a closed car in the summer heat? If yes, then your power chair should be fine. If you feel the heat is too intense for other electronic items, then it is too hot for the Hoveround. A few hours may not be bad, but extended storage in extreme heat may cause damage that may void your warranty.

If the power chair was stored for a while, the batteries may have gone bad. There is a gel inside them that needs to be put on a current regularly or it will solidify. When you connect the charger, you get a green light because it senses the batteries are full; unfortunately they are full of crud, not power. Try replacing the batteries to see if that solves the issue. You can probably take them to an auto parts store or Interstate Batteries to have them volt tested. The type of battery you need is a U1, 12volt, 33amp and you will need 2 of them.

There is a power button right between your legs. If you sit at that wheelchair, in between your knees that is where the switch on button is located to turn on the device. Most likely that is where the power button is.

I also suggest you may refer to the manual for more information about your system.

When I saw the commercial very closely although I am not the employee of Hoveround, I saw the switch right between the legs on where you sit. I am pretty sure...

As you said, you didn't get the instruction manual, it's true, they don't distribute the user manual to the customers. In fact there's no code to reset, but if it's not working, the only thing you can do is remove the battery and reinstall them again. It should work fine if there isn't internal problem or battery discharged problem. If you want the manual, they'll as for additional $26-$30, so I don't want you to waste the bucks, rather call them on this number 1-800-542-7236 (toll free number) and ask them for help, they'll gladly give you the instructions according to your needs. You can also contact online using the "contact us" form, but it's better for you to directly call the number i've given and talk to their customer support.

From past experience, more than likely the carbon tips on the rubber keypad that make the contact on the circuit board may be degraded to the point that they no longer make contact.

They are generaly behind the foot plate on the left hand side. You may need to remove the foot plate to find it

It sounds like the power chair may have been sitting for a while; if so, the gel inside the batteries has probably solidified and they will no longer take a charge. Try replacing the batteries (u1, 12 volt, 33 amps) and see if that does the trick.

If the charger is automatically giving you a green light when you plug in the charger, the batteries are most likely damaged and will no longer take a charge. This can happen when the power chair is stored and the batteries are not charged for a while. The green light on the charger indicates the battery is full, but instead of being full of power, its full of crud. Try to replace the batteries and see if that will solve the problem.

If you mean the manual brake release, it is in the FRONT of the power chair, just above the footrest, in an opening 3" square. The two black levers need to be pressed DOWN to release the brakes so the chair can be pushed and then raised UP to restore the motor function. Some scooters have a manual reset button towards the rear of the machine, but the MPV5 does not.

You can purchase a tire and tube from Hoveround for $110 plus shipping and have it sent to you for self-installation, or you can call them to have a service technician do the installation for an additional $50-$100.

If you have changed out the battery and it is wired correctly i would have to say check out the power
modulator, this controls the power going to the unit also if you get in contact of your chairs manufacture there is a code that they can give you by pressing a series of buttons to get the power back to the chair
This is very common when you change out the batteries in these chairs ok?

The controller for an MPV5 retails for 1159 dollars. Even if your insurance is out of network, try to see if they will give you an exception as the price is still lower than the cost of a whole new power chair. At the very least, you may want to pay 50 dollars for a technician to come out and properly diagnose the problem. It may be something simple like a loose connection.
