I've been charhing the battery for 48 hours and no

Kw How old are the batteries and have they been sitting up for a long time? If this is the case the charger cannot pick up really low batteries and charging them for 48 hours won't help. Unfortunately you have to get 2 new batteries. Your chair requires 2 U1 batteries. Now if the batteries are fairly new and when you plug the charger into the joystick you should be getting a red light and a yellow light on the charger. When fully charged the yellow light turns green. If you have both lights and it never turns green bad batteries if no lights or just the power light bad charger, If you have a digital voltmeter you can set it on 200 volts dc and place the leads in the two outter charger plug holes on the joystick. It should read the battery voltage fully charged 25-27 volts HOPE THIS HELPS

The charger does not seem

Make sure that the wall outlet is operational. Try replacing the power cord to the charger to see if that will fix the problem. It is the same power cord used to power most desktop computers. Take the cord with you to an electronics store to ensure you have a good match, they cost less than $20, keep your reciept just in case you need to return it. Plug that in to the charger (if it will fit), turn on the charger's power switch and see if you get any lights on the charger. If not, most likely the charger unit has been damaged and will need to be replaced, $275.00.
Good luck!

LOOKING FOR CONTROLLER FOR HOVEROUND MPV5

Those are only available through Hoveround and retail for around $1159.00. You may want to have a Hoveround Tech come out to diagnose the power chair for $50 to make sure that is what you need before spending that kid of money.

I have model MPV serial

Hi,

When you connect the charger, if the light goes to red to green within a few minutes and the battery power does not last more than 1-2 hours or less, it may indicate that that the batteries will not take a charge anymore and need to be replaced. This can happen if the power chair is stored without being charged for a while. Batteries retail $75-$150 each depending on the model and brand, you will need two of them.

I think this chair uses the VSI joystick controller, and those flash codes are located here: http://www.pgdt.com/scenter/diagnostics/diagvsi.html

If the brake levers are up for release then the lights will flash. Pull up the brake levers completely and see if that is the problem.

Please get back to us if you have any further query or else accept the solution.

Thanks for contacting fixya.com

How do I replace batteries

lallman first unplug the joystick cable from the base plug then remove the seat by lifting it off the center post (there is a pin or bolt in the post under the seat that you need to remove) Once you have the seat off you will be able to see the 2 battery boxes. Unplug the connector from the boxes by turning the connector and pulling them out. Undo the straps around each battery box and take them off (they will only go so far because of the battery wires. Remove the wires from the batteries and reinstall on the new batteries paying attention to the polarity red to pos and black to neg. Then reinstall like you remove them. Hope this helps you

Battries are not charging

Has your power chair been stored usused for a while? If so, unfortunatly, your batteries need to be replaced. The batteries contain a gel that needs to have current run through it on a regular basis (at least 8 hours once a week) or it will solidify. If you attach the charger, what will most likely happen is the green light will either stay green or go to green after a very short time. The charger will indicate the batteries are full, but instead of being full of power, they are full of crud. Your warranty will most likely not cover replacment as this is due to customer neglect, but your insurance may still cover the replacement if you can wait for the process to go through. Otherwise, you will need to replace the batteries on your own, type U1, 24v 33 amp. Good luck!

The hoveround MP5 has new

It sounds like the battery has discharged itself beyond the point of being able to charge back up. This can happen if a battery of this type sits unused for a long amount of time as yours has. My suggestion is you give Hoveround a call and they can help you get it jump started, or can point you to someone in your area that can do it for you. 1-800-542-7236 is their number. It is definitely fixable, but requires a special unit to get the battery going again.

Thanks
Tim

The speed control light goes

If the lights are chasing left to right then you are in inhibit mode meaning a charger is attached or there is a problem in the joystick with the inhibit functio. Right to left chasing I think means you are in freewheel. Turn the Power off and reset the levers in front on the chair then turn the power back on and hope the lights are steady and the chair will work. If this doesn't do it maybe you are in lockout mode. If you have the manual for this chair it should explain how to get out of "lockout". If not try turning the power on and within 10 seconds push the joystick straight forward and hold until you hear a beep then immediately move the joystick to the rear and hold until you hear another beep then release joystick to the center. This should get it out of "lockout" Hope this helps!!! Of course you could always call Hoveround and ask for tech support to help with this. Checkout their website for phone number Hoveround.com

Put in drive controller just

Make sure the release levers are up all the way (in front - above the footplate). Shut power off and try chair again. If the entire row of battery lights on the joystick controller are still flashing, you need a new joystick. Contact Hoveround or The Aftermarket Group online who will qoute you a repair cost. It will probably run anywhere from 300 to 1100.

CAUGHT IN RAIN DONT WORK

If the joystick got wet the only try would be to take it apart and try to dry it out. If that doesn't work you'll have to get a new joystick. If Medicare paid for the chair the you can have it repaired and Medicare will pay for most of the repair cost. Contact Repair Xpress at 1-877 581-3733 for info and more help

Not good- water and electronics don't mix! The problem will depend on how many lights are blinking. Here is a link for more information:

Chair got wrapped up in

Ok pulling the rug from the wheels shouldn't have caused that unless you disconnected one of the battery cables. Look at each cable coming out of the battery boxes where they connect to the black box under the center of the chair. Make sure that each cable is securely plugged in. Hope this helps you
